Some sort of software mute would be nice to eliminate chatter from any source. :-)

Do my girlfriend and I own the only two Deus's that don't like the PP in 4 kHz? I know that I'm not imagining this, but I can't help but wonder if there's some other cause, particularly when no one else is having this problem. We don't even have the same sized coils. Is it a regional thing? On the same note, it ought to absolutely hate the PP on 12 kHz (the PP's freq) but it doesn't. Do you blame me for being confused by this?
As for the mute, I'll bet that there's a mute option in the menu somewhere...but I'll also bet that if I turn the sound off, I'll forget to turn it back on again. Particularly if it's not on one of the option trees that I normally use.
Mine get's a little "chatty" when I set the machine down with the coil upright. But it will pick up the PP in 4 kHz,unless I have the coil positioned 90 degrees away from the hole,at arms length. It doesn't do it in any other frequency though?
It certainly does not in 8 and 12 kHz. I don't use 18 kHz enough to comment on it. 4 kHz seems to be the bad one and for the life of me, I can't understand why. Harmonic frequencies, maybe?
Mine makes a little noise with an upright coil, but not enough to bother me. The ground usually sounds worse than that around here.
When I put the Deus down, it's not 90 degrees away, but more like 140 or so. After I pinpoint the target, I pull out the PP and turn it on as I place it on the target, then twist my trunk to place the Deus behind/beside me with the coil facing away. It's when I'm distracted and set the Deus down with the coil within a few feet from me (orientation doesn't seem to matter) that it picks up the PP. In 8 or 12, I can set the Deus down basically wherever I want, just so long as the coil is not close enough to the PP to actually be detected by it. (In that case, it drives the PP nuts, not the other way around, but that's to be expected.)
I was having trouble with my pro pointer cross talking with my deus also.I have the RS pointer from nokta and dont seem to have that prob.I need to try the 4 khz again to make sure thats not my normal freq.
Thats a great point!Especially for us new to the Deus guys.I wouldnt have thought of that. Thanks Bud.That info should be on the front page of something to be honest,I bet this is an issue more often than we think. HH Jim TYou can always offset 4 khz by just a bit. Often it makes a huge improvement.
