Yep, couldn't believe, it HAD to get out somewhere, but didn't have much time so I ran to the in-law's house and hit the old dump site in the woods behind their farm house. Ended up with a 1924 Merc in beautiful shape, some type of old snap, a possible bleeder valve? An old round ball bullet and a suspender clip possibly. Also came out with a nice old milk bottle and some other decorative bottles!

Cool ! Are you going to Post the Bottles ?
Or did I Respond too soon ?

Very nice Den!!! I was chomping at the bit yesterday but didn't have time to get out, but today I have nothing on the schedule. I'm going for a walk in the woods today for sure!

Congrats on the finds!

Dave

Yes Jeff, here they are! They aren't "real" old as my dad told me, but when they are from the 50's and I was only born in the 80's, they are old to me :laughing7:

There were hundreds, if not thousands of bottles under the ground, many of them broken and some much much older than these. I think this site is going to call for a summer digging to see what all is there. The farms dates back to the early 1800's and this was their dump site for over 100yrs, guess it will take a while to get down to the truly old stuff.

Good luck today Dave, I want to get out as well, trying to decide where to go!!

Yes, the East Malta Dairy! There were a bunch more milk bottle tops there from broken bottles that looked to be of a different size/shape :(

Nice, finding coins at a dump site must be hard to do.There is a site like that up next to my cabin that I have tried a couple times to find good stuff with no luck.Glad to see you made it out in January. Best of luck on your next hunt. Greg

Great finds! I'm in central Pa also and this winter has been a welcome change from the norm. I'm heading out today too. Good luck to all.

Greg, the coin was found in the trail leading to the dump. Id say it would be next to impossible to find a coin in this dump lol!

Nice bottles!! Good luck getting the rest of them. :icon_thumright:

Your long tube looking thing is used to take out the valve inside a tire valve stem. Don't know the age . Yes, El-Nino or global warming is running rampant this year for sure. Unbeleivable. It was 82 here yesterday and 88 a few weeks ago. I'm lovin it :icon_sunny: But 2 more months until Spring ::) A lot can happen till then. Hope the temps hold for you though. Better than being stuck inside with "Cabin Fever"
