I had a few minutes to check a new spot and I found this rimfire cartridge about 5-6 inches down. I measured and the outside diameter is about 0.46 inches just above the rim, and it is 0.83 inches long. I figure that it is probably 44 caliber. It says L&K on the bottom. Does anyone have an idea as to how old it is and what type of gun it was used for?

I believe the lever action Henry rifles and Winchester 1866 were chambered in .44 Rimfire.

dude thats way cool! Im always researching my headstamps and collecting what Ive found, and I have never seent hat one before that you have.....................sweeeeeeeeet!

Ok! here is some more info. The Henry and the m1866 Winchester both had the same double firing pin indentation as what you have on your casing. And just like yours I have found many that where pulled and turned after a misfire in order to try to get a shot off, which looks as if yours was misfired at least three times?

I do have a question tho on how many times it was fired tho,Like I said it appears as if It was tried three times and If so what does the firing pin indentation look like in the 1st picture at the 6 o'clock position? Is it square and blocky or what?

Again that is a cool casing thanks for sharing that one.Daniel

It looks like it took 2 times to fire it. The first pair of indentations are not very deep and the second pair are deep, that's the one that fired it. The marks are rectangular - the ends of the marks are square. The dark mark near the bottom in the first photo is actually a faint crack.

ok! I see the 2nd shot is what fired it,cool! Nice find again.I just wish I could find a more difinitive answer on a time frame for that round.I also think it was a civilian prodution round and not under a military contract. That might help narrow it down some. Thanks for sharing that find.Daniel
