41st of Foot Officer's button? updated cleaned photos

Does anyone know if this is an officer's button? It has quite a bit of silver left on it. I can't find any reference to this maker. Does anybody have any info? Would anybody chance cleaning this button with naval jelly or is it too scarce? I haven't done anything yet with the front but rinse it with water. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I thought you guys might like to see it cleaned up. Thanks for the input so far, it looks like this one is kinda scarce. Please let me know if anybody comes up with anything.

Re: 41st of Foot Officer's button?

I took a quick look and didn't see the exact button but I saw enough of the same "type" to feel that the ID was in the right direction. That's all I was trying to add to the mix. The "of Foot" buttons do have designs like this. Sorry if I misled anyone.

I am pretty sure it says Dublin on the back

Re: 41st of Foot Officer's button? updated cleaned photos

Hello your button is an Officers Button to the The 41st Regiment of Foot 1799 to 1813, changed from silver to gilt in 1813 as well as the entire style. Your button has "Dublin" on the back as this Regiment was posted in Ireland prior to coming to Canada for The War of 1812. I have attached a similar button out of my collection found on a 1812 Battlefield in Canada. It is marked "JONES DUBLIN". Nice find and very rare. I have also added a 41st Cross Belt Plate (non dug)...found in Black Rock New York which is also in my collection.

That's a great looking plate, not something very easy to dig anywhere! I see you also have an early General's button in the picture. I had a non dug one of those several years back.

You have some amazing relics there. You should start a post of you finds in my best finds. It sorta distracts Scratchers original post. Great Relics you have though!

Very cool stuff. That Halifax plate is awesome. Maybe not a bigtime money relic but that badboy wouldn't be too common! Great cannon balls too. I have a marked French 12 pounder I dug about 6-7 years ago. I'm also quite happy to see that the large broad arrow is somewhat faint because I have an uncleaned 8 pound ball from last Fall that has two deep lines in it, but doesn't seem to have a third. I don't believe cleaning will expose a 3rd, but regardless of that I am very sure it's a broad arrow, or was meant to be one anyway.
