So, I was at a thrift store browsing. I saw this. I thought it was a regular table.

After taking a look at it, I realized that the top came off. This is what it revealed.

I immediately thought to myself, “I got to get this.“

It’s missing the white balls, as well as the part that catches the white balls. However, those can easily be replaced. It was priced at $40.00.

When we finally got it loaded up, the people helping me load it said “this thing is extremely heavy for its size.”

On the way back home, I was thinking about what they said. I began to wonder if it was a slate table. I highly doubted it.

However, when I got home and set it up, I looked underneath it, to see if it was wood or slate, just out of curiosity. After looking through the holes that the screws holding the top were in, I saw and felt STONE on top of wood, not just wood.

$40.00 for a slate bumper pool table? Now THAT’S a bargain!

Anyway, I just wanted to share this. In my opinion, it is one of the best thrift store finds I ever found.

I wasted a lot of time (college) playing bumper pool and football. A slate unit for $40 is fantastic!👍🏼

I played a lot of bumper pool when I was a teenager. I enjoyed it. I’m so glad I can get back into it now.

You’re right, it is a fantastic deal for a slate unit!

Wow..that takes me back. Cool find

Nice!!!! Congrats!!!!

Thank you all for the likes and the posts. I appreciate it.

I failed to post this picture yesterday, mainly because I couldn’t find my flashlight to get a good picture of it. Here is the slate.

It’s that gray area right by the nut that is holding down a bumper. It’s definitely stone. It looks and feels like it.

I also went to the store and I found something I could use to catch the white balls. I was able to modify it and attach it without any damage to the table.

All I need now is a new set of bumper pool balls, another ball catcher for the red balls, and maybe some new cues, then I’m ready to play the game!

Again, thank you for all the likes and posts. I appreciate it.

Was it made is USA? The Slate probably came from where I live, Slatington PA. Active Slate industries 1800s-mid 19s.

I actually don’t know where it was made. I looked everywhere for a maker name, and I can’t find it. All I found was the serial number, and the model number, which is pretty faint.

Zoomed in, here is the model number. This is the best photo I could get of it. The serial number slightly covers it.

From what I can make out, the model number looks like 211264 something something 0.

I don’t know how old it is, and I don’t know how to figure it out. I spent an hour researching this morning, with no success.

Very cool!! :icon_thumright:
My friends dad had a bumper pool table, played alot as a kid. It seemed to help me play "regular" pool.... and make ALOT of money later on in tournaments.

Nice find and takes up less space than a full size pool table.
