1) Large coin, One Penny - Ship? Not listed in my Charlton Canadian tokens book so assume it was minted in Britain, intended for Britain, but I can not find a match.

2) Silver, slightly larger than a quarter, dated 1696.

3) Large coin, dates 1761, guessing something like a 1 ORE. Country? ...............(ID'ed - 1761 Danish 1 ORE coin)

4) Large coin. Last pic can read "ANVER"......................................................... (ID'ed - 1814 10 Centime)

Not only was he the Duke of Savoy, he also held the titles of marquis of Saluzzo, marquis of Monferrato, prince of Piedmont, count of Aosta, Moriana and Nizza. If that were not enough, he was also the first king of Sicily (1713-1718) and the king of Sardinia. During one or more of these periods (except when he was king), he may have authorized the minting of your coin. So there is a lot to research still to do, if you have the time and the desire.
Don........

Well, the good news is that you have the ruler and the complete inscription so that's a start.

This narrows it down in terms of dates. Only two match yours--and one is a 5 soldi coin, whose diameter is 28mm (slightly larger than a U.S. quarter). So that's what denomination I'm banking on.

I would not have bumped that post back mostly for the reason the silver was just passing through, and others I had an idea on, and weren't that interesting. That said, knowledge never hurts, and Winter is here for most of us. I might actually take a look and do some post bumping myself.

I should post a forum stimulus plan, get everyone to go back and bump some favorite posts, both theirs and ones they've read. Or go way back and just find the neatest stuff. Can you say cabin fever.

I like your plan. :)

If you can clean that 'One Penny' Token on the 'ship' side or draw what you see, as I can't make out anything. Then I will hunt throw the book!

Thanks, but don't bother. I've already heard the ID, just don't remember it. Not a big deal and I can get it again anytime I want it.

Went looking through old emails and found the ID.

The One Penny / Ship token is indeed a British token ( Withers 1618 ).
It is considered "non-local " as it does not state a location or merchant on the token ...

It is also listed as a "Borderline Canadian" token as it appears to have had some minor circulation in this country ( Bowman 16 ).

Still can't see the ship on the penny token. Looks almost like a horse with a crusader/knight and shield.

All 4 great coin digs :icon_thumright: The silver is awesome :hello2:
