Hi my friends T.Net ! :hello:
Today at last the rain in my area :D , this is a blessing of God last week reaching 40 celsius (104 deg Fahrenheit) degrees hot :icon_sunny: , the rained days can not spray the vines so I headed to the Roman Villa for three hours and hunt my best coin of Gallienus Emperor's :hello2: , costs a lot to find these coins in such a good state of preservation, are called "Antoninianus." this coin shows the emperor unshaven :laughing7: and back a centaur to shooting arrows .... amazing coin .... I could even find a piece of Roman pavement made with the technique of Opus signinum, also a pin with traces of gold-plated and decorated with woven stripes, and the usual things .. ..

UPDATED OF GALLIENUS COIN : :read2:
Rome. 267-268 AD. Sole reign. Obverse: GALLIENVS AVG, radiate head right. Reverse: APOLLINI CONS AVG, Centaur walking right, drawing bow. Z in exergue. RIC V-1 163; Sear 10177

Re: 4 June of 2011.....

Got a couple of that type, funny thing is, one was picked out & used in the latest historial town project, which is picturing & documenting Roman finds/coins around our town. Yours is a far better example, pity we couldn't have used that one :laughing9: :hello2:

Keep em coming :headbang:

These coins are very common in Roman sites of my country , during the third century the whole country was completely Romanized, but it's hard to find these coins so well preserved.

These two pieces are my favourites!

What a BEAUTY of a Roman! :hello2: :headbang: Another day of some fantastic finds my friend!!! :occasion14: :icon_thumleft:

Unshaven with Radiate Head, Centaur Drawing bow :o
I could look at that coin for hours :laughing7:
Congrats on a Superb Find !

Nice find :icon_thumright: Looks to be at least in fine condition, if not extra fine. Other than the silvering being worn off and a bit of wear, it looks just about as good as a Gordian III Antoninianus I bought a few weeks ago graded XF by NGC.

I have a jealousy of the silver coins that you hunt in U.S.A .... are much better preserved than those of Europe. :D

Yes, Gallienus was a little metrosexual and not shaving .... but lasted only eight years in power .... the Romans did not want to have a bearded emperor. :laughing7:

After researching a bit more this coin and I realized that Antoninianus of Gallienus were never made in silver (If not retain the silver)
The Antoninianus of Gordianus III can not be compared because the made in silver and this is brass.
The coin is not attrition, but weak error coinage.
Roman coins not buy online, most are false ... it is better to travel to Europe and catch them yourself.
I also I have coins Gordianus III .......Here I show.
Greetings!
