Hey all. Got out to the Iceberg yesterday with Mirage. I was hoping for just one silver, but I got five all in an area that I've never tried before. Also got my best wheat penny from the site, rarity-wise, a 1911-D. The largest marble came from the hole with the '60 dime. It was too bad that I didn't make it to the DFX convention. I was looking forward to going; hopefully there'll be another one next year.
Take it easy all, HH!

Nice finds Nate, glad to see you back on the forum. Been awhile since I've see you on here. Now that the weather is getting better, you guys will be out all the time.

Many people ask me how I get my wheat's looking so nice, I just tell them I use Nate's and Mirages recipe for cleaning wheat's. They do look a lot better. Thanks

HH, Ringfinder

Nice finds Nate and congrats on the silvers and wheats! I scored a 1918 Merc last week in the same condition. HH, Mike

I'm recovering from the DFXonly weekend hunt. Three days straight working 12+ hrs each day in some real rugged terrain. I'm having trouble moving right now :D

The next few months will be kinda weak for me detecting-wise. My son's baseball season begins this coming weekend, and anyone who's kid play travel ball knows, I won't have much free time for a while. Post July is when I will kick it in again.

Great finds Nate. I talked to your Dad and am not surprised at ALL that the coins turned up in the area that they did. That's only a few feet from where my Morgan turned up next to that large old fallen tree.
Talk to you soon. There's another spot RIGHT NEXT to where you dug those dimes that has potential, but it'll require some work to clear debris from the area before it can be detected.

WOW Nate! Another impressive haul from that place. By the way, you prob. mentioned it before, but what did you use to clean the wheats?

Nate,
Never seen so many wheats in one picture.
Don't know if you hold the record, but it my books that is one nice haul.
WTG!!!

That's all explained in the Iceberg thread in The Best of TNet.

I told Merf: the wheats clean up nice from the Iceberg basically no matter how you clean them...but I choose to use cotton swabs with ammonia. A dip in olive oil makes the color look better (to me) after the ammonia scrub.

Thanks guys!

nate...that marble at 5 oclock looks like an alley agate .....if its opaque...ck it for aventurine...will appear like glitter under bright light.....the other fairly common wv swirls...
