Hello, I metal detected at my 3x great grandfathers farm again. I found half to one of his hatchets/axe head. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1520731912.108051.webp
I’ll post more later. Thanks!

I’m think it may be a shingling/Roofing hatchet

It looks like what's left of a shingle hatchet head.

Nice find it is so awesome that you can dig history that is directly related to your family!

Being a city slicker I have no idea. I don't dig many iron signals. I would tend to agree with Terry Soloman that the iron may be from a well pump. The lightweight crumpled metal piece may be identifiable if you clean it up. Use soapy water and an old tooth brush. You won't hurt it.

The item on the left on the top row is a lock ring . Could be from an axle and nut, not knowing the size.

I was also wondering if anyone knows what these two items are.

Nice finds on your' Great Great Great Grandfather's farm! While some will try to relate items to the period that they may believe your' 3x great-grandfather owned and worked the farm, having an actual time period would help (i.e. 1850 to 1890, 1870 to 1920, etc.). One would have trouble relating any finds from farms where my' 5x great-grandfathers on my Dad's side of the family lived and worked farms if I only gave that information. You see, while I am only 65 years old, one of my' 5x great-grandfathers was a Minutemen in the Revolutionary War and so far from research, I believe the other was a Minuteman as well. They both were born and lived around the same time period.

He lived there from the 1880s to 1954
