Today I was looking out my window expecting rain, but the radar looked OK so I headed out to a foundation site in the woods I've hit a few times with limited success (2 Indian Heads...I think). Again I decided to put the smaller coil on my XLT and work the surrounding areas real slow. There's a lot of modern trash and bullets, the area near the foundation seems to be where the local teens come to drink and shoot guns :icon_scratch: It's a nice looking cellar hole with fairly in-tact walls and remnants of a central chimney.

I got a nice signal about 30 minutes into the hunt but wasn't expecting too much since it pinpointed at only about 2 inches. Sure enough, a coin pops out and I thought it was a modern quarter at first. I then rubbed a bit of dirt off and noticed the shield...which I had first thought to mean it was a shield nickel. After a little more cleaning I saw the "2" with a date of 1864...my first 2-cent piece! It's in fairly nice shape too!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

thanks everyone! I cleaned it the best I could and I don't think it's getting much better than what you see pictured.
