Another day on a fave field. I did the rest of the area i started wednesday and got one scrappie. Then i moved further and was rewarded with a couple roman coins, a 17th.C. netherlands silver Stuiver and a 1768 netherlands copper Duit. Best find here was the counterstamped roman As beside from being completely toast....
Then i stopped at a farm to ask the owner when starts harvesting sugar beet. He said he already did a couple rows on the field we're talking about and i had time to detect for an hour or so. Glad i did! Other from the musket balls you get here a lot, another silver turned up. This time a 1779 1Stuber, then a 13thC. buckle. One of the biggest in my collection with more the 1" height. Roman showed with a 4thC. bronze of Constantinus. To make the day complete the usual Prussian coins and 20thC. zink were under the coil....

Thanks Cru! Our farmers get a list when to harvest, so the sugar refinery can spread the incoming sugar beet over two or three months. We have a lot of sugar beet here... This farm is late this year. He will pile up the sugar beet too, because he wants the field ploughed and green manure in as soon as possible. If that won't work the field is open to detect all winter. :hello2:

Something i forgot to post.

Silver always rounds off a day nicely, what is the coin coming up in the crack of earth opened by the shovel? just a scrap prussian or was that one of the romans?

One of the 18thC. coppers.

Got silver AGAIN Lu. Could the musket balls been tamped together? In the excitement of battle guys were know to do that. Even put in two loads. Good luck.

Its hard to believe some of those coins are over 1500 years old. They are really sharp looking.

Really don't know. Do you think they wouldn't separate when just tamped together?

I love this field for the good condition the coins are in. Half of the site is under the farm built in the 1600s, the field was pasture all the centuries. That helped the coins to survive.
