I was finally able to get to a field where there was a schoolhouse in 1870. As you can see by the pics, it was a pretty good 4 hour outing. It had rained the night before, so it was really a muddy mess, but the hunt must go on ! The 1943 Miss Walking Liberty showed up first, followed by the 2 Wheats, an 1873 and 1906 Indians. I also made a few surface finds with the 2 Marbles. The white one is a "shooter" clay marble. I have only found 1 other clay marble this big, & it was the typical orange color. All the rest that I have found are the smaller average sized marbles. The next 2 victims under my coil were the 1920 & 1943 Mercs. The hunt was finished off with the 1920 watch fob which reads " J.I. Case plow works Racine Wis." , and the little girls barrett. This was a harvested Bean field, & I'm hoping Mr. Farmer Guy comes back out to disc it over. I'm sure if I found all these goodies in 4 hours, there are going to be a few more items out there. 5 lbs. of mud on each boot, and the hunt was over, but it was well worth it.
