Its light, copper color, like plastic & has nipple at bottom like it was cast & pulled apart, the incuse black areas are like tiny bubbles, possibly heat impressed. Its 19mm(1/2") in size(slightly larger than a dime) & 2mm thick and the reverse is blank with a very lite thin line shown in places like it may have been mounted on something, but it is smooth. Any Info, & what type of ship is it?

Is it plastic or just "like plastic"? Looks like play money - pirate treasure coins...

The ship looks like a mid-19th century 3 masted barque.

looks copper to me. does it sound like a coin when you drop it? did you find it with the MD'er? if you did i doubt its plastic unless its copper plated plastic (if thats possible).

Didn't find with MD'er, had it in my junk box for years, I'm sure its plastic with the copper paint probably baked on it or a glazed paint job. Thanks for replying.

Thought I was gonna pass out on the spot. I was digging between two really old clothesline poles (so I thought) and I hit a weird signal that I just had to dig. I finally see a reeded edge and it was shiny GOLD!!! Well, I got it out of the ground and it was a very heavily gold-plated PLASTIC button. It was at my cousin's house and he was just getting into detecting. So I kept my mouth shut and reburied it. If he's found it he hasn't said anything yet.

Anyway, my point is that if a piece of plastic is plated or has enough metallic paint on it, you may hit it with a detector.
