These are two sites that I’ve hit in the past, but they’re only accessible after the harvest in the fall or in this case, after they’ve been disked but have yet to be seeded. At the first site you see, I found the flat button, the buckle and the ‘gold’ ring. I say ‘gold’ because it’s stamped ‘18K’ inside the band, but it’s clearly made of brass. I’m not sure how old this ring is, but this site has been gone for at least 120+ years. :icon_scratch:

On the second site you see pictured, I’ve been able to locate the site of the house and the barn. I was happy to at least find the 1899 Indian Head Penny. The unidentified bits at the top of my picture are an umbrella slider, a brass keyhole cover to an iron padlock and the bottom portion of a crotal bell. I only managed 3 hours of detecting yesterday because it was already 80F here by 11am! :tongue3:

Thanks for looking,
Dave

PS. Just in case you were wondering what I do with the more interesting bits of glass I find. :laughing7:

A nice hunt, and some interesting finds. Any ring is excellent, and yours cleaned up nicely. Well done mate - congrats! :occasion14:

Good stuff there, Dave! Looks like some fun hunting! Glad to see that you were able to find my false teeth!

Nice hunt,IH don’t show up all to often up north.

Nice work Dave. Nice variety of finds. I was looking through your albums and you have done real well over the years. You really know how to clean things up after they come out of the ground. Super job. Congrats.

Congratualtions on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Thanks very much for your post Java.
I'm still debating whether I should get it professionally polished or just take the Brasso to it. :laughing7:

Best of luck to you,
Dave

I don't know about finding your false teeth buddy, but if they were there I didn't see em! :laughing9:

This is so true my friend, finding early US coins north of the border is always exciting! :icon_thumright:

Hope you're having a great year,

Thank you for taking the time to look in my albums, I often wondered if anyone else looked at them except me. :laughing7:
I think all our finds require some type of preservation or restoration. I also can appreciate the 'purist' who prefers to leave their finds in their 'as found' condition.

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Congrats on the ring and your other saves.
Good research is the key.

You hit the nail on the head with your statement "Good research is the key". :occasion14:
I like to say, "If nothing happened there, then there'll be nothing to find". :laughing7:

Hope you're having a great year ATW,
Dave

Congratulations on the very productive hunt! :occasion14:

Thank you Professor! :hello:

I have found a few rings stamped 18 and 14K and like yours, not a bit of gold anywhere on the critters.

Congrats on some good finds, and hope you can find more coins!

Nice collection of finds congrats!
Still a nice ring find.

This is the first 19thc ring I've found that was marked as being gold, but is obviously a fake. :sadsmiley:
I found this on a very early site settled by one of the founding families of our town.
If this had been gold, it would've been a fairly significant find.
I also found a 'holed' 1835 US LC here last year... see pics below.

Best of luck to you,
Dave

Nice collection of finds congrats!
Still a nice ring find.

Thank you MsBB, as always I appreciate your support! :hello:
