Above on the 10 Oct we had scouted this area with great success & agreed to return. Today was the day & it was a 1 hit event, as the beans were starting to show & although the owner was happy with us digging in the plants, I would rather not after today.
Our target was 2 hammered & 2 scrappies, beat that in just over 5 hours of tight gridding the opposite direction of our loose gridding last time. (Hope that makes sense?)

2 Scrappies
Broken Silver 18th C Clog Clasp
Barrel Tap Key
Lead Token
Rose Farthing
Jetton
Cru'Dad got a Rare broken Saxon Stirrup Mount - Class C, Group 1.
Medieval Book Strap Clasp
2 Short Cross Cut Halfpennies - 1 King John, Ipswich Mint
Mary I Groat 1553-54 - Scarce Coin, books in Fine at £125 - My best example.:icon_thumright:

Awesome digs Crusader:occasion14: Do you live in the fields??? You sure do post often and always show some amazing relics and coins.:notworthy: Kudos to you

cracking few bits there , love the hammies well done

Don't think I've seen a Mary I hammered posted before - very nice!

Sweet Mary! That's one coin that doesn't come up often. Liking the other two short crosses and the book clasp. Too bad the Saxon Mount was broken it would of been a nice one complete, not that the piece isn't a nice find.

BLOODY MARY!!! Amazing find Cru. A lot of history surrounds her and a coin from her short reign is pretty cool.

Now her father debased the silver if I'm not mistaken. Did she restore the proper silver content? The reason I ask is that coin looks great.

Congrats Cru

Steve

I must rack up a few miles in the field, but in short, I try & live more than work, although that may need to change soon.

My last post from this field had one, strange to get 2 out of the same field. I also remember Robfinds posting a pretty nice one. I think we have had about 6 over the years but they are all rough, its rare to see them like this one.

Yes, the a whole Class C Mount would be special, its the rarist class of mount in the book, with only 6 examples.

Yeap, the silver is near pure in these.

What a day...Most of us would kill to get old coins like that...Continue posting, great job!!

Great day. Love the Groat! The book clasp is almost identical to my Farm Shop find.

I think there is a change of rules that state 1 banner, by 1 member at anyone time.

Scrappies added to top.
