3 Dimes and a Nickel

I've finally found a few coins which may be worthy to post. Been searching a cluster of old farm sites which are now wrapped into a park. There are a lot of places to roam and spots to find things. I like checking the woods because they rarely seem to be searched. After going through one section, and finding the requisite shotgun shell ends and brass cartridges of hunters from decades gone by, along with beer can ends and pull tabs I hit a signal which sounded like a penny. Ran a few times over the spot, just a penny so I dug it -- what the heck, a penny is a penny. When I tipped the plug I thought I saw a glimpse of silver but it disappeared so I figured it was just some bark. Pulled the dirt out of the hole with my hand. Ran the detector over the hole and the dirt, got the same type of reading and sifted the dirt. Found these four coins: 1900 and 1912 Barber dimes, a 1908 King Edward VII Canadian dime and a 1912 'V' nickel. A nice little spill from a hunter, no doubt. Wish I could thank them in person. In all the time I have spent at the park I expected to find something nice; this was a treat. Good luck on your trips out as well. (The pictures are not the best as I am just working out the macro focusing on my camera)

Congratulations on the great old pocket spill, but I am wondering where you are located that you found the Canadian dime? Living here in Maine, we get our share of Canadian money in our change today, I wonder if it circulated back then on a pretty much 1 for 1 basis and how often it occured. Thanks in advance for letting me know if you are near the Canadian border or if your find was a real rarity. T.

That is one sweet little spill!! I've been trying for one of those silver canadian dimes but so far have not found one. Congrats on a great find.

I live in NY about an hour from the Canadian border so the liklihood of finding Canadian is good. I just never expected to find a coin in the little batch I dug. I'll be heading through Maine this summer while going to Canada. I'm ceratin of a few good finds out there too.

Thank you to everyone for the nods. Now I have to work on getting this xTerra to find things below the 4 inch mark! Lord knows what lurks at the 5 to 10 inch lines.
