Been using the little daylight I've had left after work the past 2 days to hunt at a new place. Yesterday I went and snagged 3 buttons, 2 larger ones. One has a little design around the border and I found a smaller button with a nice design on the front and then I also found a gardner bullet. Today I went back to the same field and walked up around some rocks and instantly got a small round ball and 2 flat buttons. Finds in that area were pretty dry after that. So I went to the top of the hill where I was finding some confederate lead previously and the New Jersey copper. Once again I found 2 more flat buttons and started walking a line in that spot...nothing. Came back around and got a piece of a handle off a spoon then a few feet away I dug my very first large cent! I've been dying to dig one of these and today I can mark it off my list! The large cent was a few feet from the buttons as well and I was about to pack it up and leave but decided to keep hitting that area and it paid off. 1818 Matron Cent...unfortunately it's been holed but I don't care at all. The detail on the coin is great. Considering the Jersey copper I just found was toasted...this is a pleasant surprise. Thanks for looking and HH!
