Well hiya everyone,

Garoulady here from the Northwest of Michigan. Got my 2nd box of dimes and got my 2nd skunk. But at least this one had canadian dimes in it. Nothing silver but i am glad to see canadian in the rolls. went to my dump credit union and stupid counter went over the 200 dollar limit by 5 bucks. I had called ahead the day before and talked to so-and-so about it and she said they wouldn't charge a fee. well I got the newbie teller and he took off 4.11 off my order. When I questioned it, the female next door said I could feed a couple of dimes in at a time till I got to the daily limit. Eeessh, give me a break. Next time I plan on going under the limit, roll the rest at home before I get there and deposit them, going to a atm elsewhere to pull out the funds to get a box at my pickup stop.

On a very good side of things, I found a LCS that is offering 2012 ASEs in proof condition for 35 bucks. what are the prices elsewhere? At the other LCS that I go to, they were offering the exact same thing for 37.50.

I am also curious. Has anyone thought of making a day of CRHing and going around town with another CRHr, going from bank to bank, getting rolls, singles, going out to lunch? I have been thinking about that a lot lately. I hate going out to resturants by myself. I teased my mom that I need to get a foodie boyfreind, a guy freind who wants to go out to resturants with me and not expecting anything else. I think taking care of my mom all the time, the need for some me-time is making me crave a CRH freind in the area. ::sighs:: ok, now I am totally bummed.

I'm going to run my fingers through my silver to cheer myself up.

Hugs and smiles,
Garoulady

Hey
The difference in ASE prices you are seeing probably has to do with the declining spot price of silver in the past couple weeks.
Silver Price Today | Silver Spot, Silver Futures, Silver ETFs
The spot price dictates all prices of silver in realtime. You will probably see a tv or stock ticker displaying the spot price of silver and gold in your local coin shop and they will use that to compute the price at the moment you agree to buy. A couple months ago I bought a roll of ASE's and ended up making a buck before I even left the shop because the price of silver had increased from the time I locked in my price.
I am sure others have their own opinions on this subject, but I believe ASE's are bullion coins and they have little numismatic value so I would not pay a premium for a proof ASE. The only exception is the 1996 ASE which is worth more than other years due to it's lower mintage.
I have said this before, but in case you missed it, don't pay more than a $3.50 premium on ASEs. So at the spot price of $31.89, you should pay no more than $35.39.

In regards to finding a CRH buddy, I recommend using match.com and putting 'coin roll hunting' as your interest. Also, I think wickaboag has the hots for you. teehee..

Just mention that you have lots of silver and I'm sure you'll have plenty of "friends" who want to go to a restaurant with you.
On the serious side of things, is your mom okay?

Well here's been my last year since april 2011,

We lost my father last year here in the house. COPD with a side order of obesity. there's nothing like doing CPR on your dying father and then getting charged by two different ambulance services because one was volunteer services and the other one was the real ambulance. Neither had a defilberator or the drugs to jumpstart him. They kept saying over and over that everything was ok, he was fine and we get to the hospital to find out he had died. My mom is disabled and my father was the main breadwinner, but because he took volutary winter layoff he didn't have any life insurance so we had no lifeline. We cashed out his 401K to survive off of, but the main problem is that we lost our mr. fix-it. He could fix anything. I miss him so much. So now my mom can't work and I have to drive her around since she can't drive, which is every day off that I have. Family keeps saying they will come out to visit but they come over once every 4 months. My dad's family I haven't seen since he died. I think they are ticked over the funeral. But we would always talk about how we wanted our funerals and disposal of our stuff. He just wanted to be cremated and buried, having a graveside funeral.

So I try to keep what sanity I have left with all the stress of surviving by keeping with my two favorite hobbies, Books and Coin collecting. Been trying to get into coin roll hunting but I am thinking I either live too far out in the middle of nowhere or that all the banks in my area are very anti-CRHing. Which is why I would love to go with someone to all the other banks in the area and see which ones take loose coins, who has the coin counters and don't charge for returns etc etc. But I haven't met anyone around here that would want to do that. It's not like I can put a Lonely Lady ad in the paper. Might as well put out the welcome mat for all the criminals and crazies.

Oh well, on a slightly better light, found a necklace that was my mom's. She got it from work for 5 years of service about 25 years ago and I found it in the garbage still in the box. It's 4 grams in weight and is 10K gold. Ballpark figure I think I can get 60 bucks for it. That's 60 in my mom's wallet.

Anyhows,

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I sure hope your mom gets to feeling better and I pray The Lord gives you strength through all this.

I feel if im going to spend money on silver.. its going to be old, and have historical value such as silver quarters and silver dollars.

You sound pretty resilient to me! I'm impressed you keep such a positive outlook.

Keep on hunting. If you don't try you will never get any silver...

Best wishes to you and your Mom. I hope my kids turn out as dedicated as you have to take care of your Mom.

I'm still up for a date :)
But I guess you're only 1000 miles away =P come to Mass and we can grab some dinner, and hit the banks!
Wicka ;)

LOL, thanks everyone. appreciate the pickmeup. Well here's something to give ya a chuckle. I am into preparedness. I am not one of those crazy gun toting folks. I am one of those prepared gun toting gals. No really, We live in the boonies. So I live with the motto, "Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it" I am a scavenger, scrounger, packrat (I keep anything that can make me money. No piles of newspapers or junk here. Unless its newspaper logs for my fireplace. LOL) And I recently ordered some magazines that specialize in preparedness and survival called Backwoodshome (which I love. It's like a very rustic Mother Earth News, Second Fav is Backwoodsman). Anyways, I ordered some backissues that had articles on saving silver and weighing silver and who actually ends up reading them. My mom! I laughed so hard when she asked to read the other articles. I mean my mom reads romance books and mysteries (which I do too as well as other things) and its only been the last couple of months that she has gotten into survival and saving silver. my brother is starting to save silver too, but only because I will pay him with silver for helping out. he owes my mom 23000 dollars to live in a trailer nearby, has only paid her back 150 dollars instead of the 5000 for this year, Drives me nutso, but he's my brother. What else can I say. LOL

Hugs and smiles. Got to go through mom's rolled dimes so she doesn't get rid of silver,

This made my eyes well up, stay strong through lifes tests, some things you think you'll never get through, but we allways find a way. As far as the skunks, they will come and go, don't get discouraged, i myself have gone through 15 boxes of skunks on a row of halves ( others on here many more) and then the nice one pops up and makes it all worth while. HH, Maverick.

I'd definitely wait three years before responding to this, or you'll end up having a mugshot taken like those lady teachers.

That's a tragic story, I hope things get better for you and you score some dream boxes soon. In an area like yours, I would take the time of the week I have the most free time, and hit as many banks as humanly possible for CWR. Ask each bank about their coin return policy. When you search the CWR just re roll 'em right back into the paper, and return them on next weeks trip

I would love to do that with a fellow CRHr. Make a day of it, go out to lunch or something. But where am I going to find a local CRHr? It's not like we put out the batsignal or anything. LMAO.

Hugs and Smiles,
Garoulady
