Got back to the old mill site again after work today with my hunting buddy.
This time put in 3 1/2 hours, and I managed 9 coppers, an 1859 indian head penny,
and a nice assortment of relics. Not sure what my buddy's totals were, but
am looking forward to seeing his loot and I hope he posts some of it.
The copper totals look to include a George I, a slick one that I think I'll be able to identify,
3 GII's, 3 Connecticut coppers, and a nice, funky, counterfeit GIII that might turn out to be
something interesting. All the coppers, including the 10 from yesterday, will be getting a slow,
cold bath in hydrogen peroxide and further gentle cleaning.
Our present hunting window for this site closes Thursday for a while, so hope to have a four-day
totals post in the future with everything looking a bit more presentable.
Thanks for looking!

Dwayne

With the total in the 20+ range (counting your buddy) a super wow on finding a virgin site like that. I would think with that many coppers you could pull 2-3 times that in buttons and some buttons can make those coppers look like peanuts, but I guess when you get that many coin hits, pretty hard to concentrate on pewter type button readings.

Looking forward to your 4 day hunt post and great photos of the coins and relics.

I only see a piece of a buckle and a buckle tongue and chafe, which is nice but certainly no big deal like finding 19 coppers is.............

you and CMDdiamondawg are slaying the colonial stuff right now :o :headbang:

very interested to see what the George III in bottom right turns out to be

i'v only dug 3 coppers ever and all this year 1890, 1900 and 1909 all of them Canadian, and you've dug 19 of them in two days. :notworthy:
