Well this kinda stunned me! Went out too Tappahannock,Virginia and was digging on a buddies friends property right next too the river, there was an old looking shack like in the photo a few yards in with a bunch of high vegetation so I couldn't fully get too it to hunt around it for coins or anything so I decided too hunt what I could...

Well I found this ring that is got a Yin Yang symbol on it and thought nothing really of this ring other then hoping it was late 19th c. I also found three buttons on the property (two flat buttons and a fashion "A" button) I posted them in Today's Finds with the ring. Went over to the "What Is It" section and asked if anyone could help me out with it and ended up finding out that it is a 29th Infantry WWII division ring!!!!

I banged myself up today for finding that Fashion "A" button thinking it was a Confederate Artillery button but then found out it wasn't! But after learning out it was a WWII ring tonight It really made me feel lot better about my hunt! :occasion14:

Were you able to find other examples of the ring? Has any been sold?

Nevermind. I see Bigcypresshunter nailed it on the other thread. Great find HSD!

Formed in 1917, the division quickly gained the nickname "Blue and Gray", reflecting on the fact that it comprised soldiers from states on both sides of the American Civil War. Deployed to France as a part of the American Expeditionary Force during World War I, the division saw intense combat in the final days of the war, and suffered heavy casualties. At the end of the war, it demobilized, though remained an active National Guard unit.
Called up for service again in World War II, the division was sent to England where it trained for two years, before participating in Operation Overlord, the landings in Normandy, France. The division is best known for being among the first wave of troops to the shore at Omaha Beach, suffering massive casualties in the process .

This weekend , Memorial Day , please take a moment to remember the Heroes who sacrificed it all for you and yours , Have fun and enjoy your Freedom

ALL gave some , some gave ALL

Great find! That looks like a difficult area to detect with all of the vegetation. Hope you took the bug spray!
