25 Signs That Military Veterans Are Being Treated Like Absolute Trash

Good on you austin:icon_thumright:Congrats for getting out of the vicious circle.Taking meds and then being forced to take other meds to counter the side effects of the first meds is utter B.S.What a joke.Thats what this country has come to.Feeling depressed, here take a pill, cant sleep, here take a pill, always tired, here take a pill,no appetite, here take a pill, eat to much here take a pill, backache, here take a pill, weigh to much, here take a pill, dont weigh enough ,here take a pill, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.the list is endless.Yup some of the indian woman are hot.I was painting a docs office last year.Good size complex. There were a few nice honeys in there.Unfortuately the doctor who worked in the offices i painted was an old battle ax.Then again that helped me get out of there faster, job complete, and she wasnt a distraction.:laughing7:

The heaviest drug I take is aspirin, period. And that's not more than once in a blue moon.

But I do have to add here that the VA can be a better experience for the younger folk. My advice is to go to a VA counselor first. If you don't like the one you meet, go to another one. They are generally localized and fairly independent of the "organization". Every metro area has one. They'll fill out all of the paperwork you need for you, and do it correctly. It's not like meeting with the IRS. Generally, it is veterans like yourself.

People I've know who went straight to the VA, ended up finally giving up.

Please, go to an essentially "independent" counselor first. It's for your own good. And they'll tell you a heck of a lot more about the benefits than anyone else ever will.

PERIOD!

I pray this helps someone out there, don't let this thread die.

My best friend got blown up 3 times in Nam. (land mines) over the course of 4 tours. Ended up with 4 PH's. He is getting some money every month because they determined him to be a percentage disabled and he gets free medical for his wounds. Still has some shrapnel in him and always will. What's strange is they won't add his hearing loss to his disability, and trust me, he can't hear squat. We're always making fun of each other's inability to hear. I find it hard to believe that anyone would think getting blown up 3 times by land mines wouldn't be the cause of deafness.

I was told to get an AMVETS rep but, when I talked to the guy at AMVETS he told me it takes over a year so I knew he wasn't going to expedite my claim. I was just hoping to get some good hearing aids but what the heck. I wasn't asking what this country could do for me. :)

That's always the problem with sending our folks into war. The costs (physical, mental and $) last for decades and decades after the end of actual fighting. Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a massive toll on this generation. Hopefully the folks sending people into combat fully realize this before sending in the troops.
