met up with fastfrank today to hit some cellar holes.man were they pounded but we managed some buttons and yep after 25 plus years of detecting this coin has always eluded me for some reason.she ain't pretty but, glad to finally cross this 186? shield nickel off my want list.was a beautiful day and always a pleasure to hunt with Frank as well as the other forum members.

Congrats on the shield nickel! That's a good one to mark off your list! I found one last summer while dredging for gold in a creek in OH! Guess I can't claim that on my MD list, but hey, what a cool find! Can't make out the date on it, either, but it is in my "treasure" box. Found some good gold that day, too!

They only minted about 23 trillion of them.

good for youdave! thats wacked that it took you all these years to find a sheild nickle i have around 7-8 of those.most came from old fishing spots or picknick areas near water. rivers ect. willy

Nice save. Those suckers don't last long in the ground. Glad you got a date off it. I found one a couple years ago that was toast. Could just make out what it was.
