Thanks. I was wondering if that was what it was, the port near by was used from the early 1800s, maybe they brought slaves or prisoners threw the port, just a guess. HH

could be a door counter weight, or for and old large gate. You know, thread rope thru pulley, attach rope to ball, suspend above ground. Attach loose end to gate or door to help open easier......nge

Hard to tell from the pics, is the eye welded on the ball with an arc welder? Or brazed on with a torch? Can you get a pic of the top? :icon_thumright:
