Re: THE DOANE GANG TREASURE in PA.

Mosemeister, I read the first and skimmed the second.
The first slipped in Washington Crossing State park which is not relevant to the Doane story. It is more relevant to the Bowman's buried treasure story.
In the story that I read, The Doanes buried $100k at Ralph Stover State park area by the cabin they used as a hideout. The PA. stories seam to almost be a comeon to intice tourism. I spent a week researching the Dents Run Gold Bar Story and 2 weekends at location. What I found out is that the story appears to be fabricated, maybe based on a legend, for the benefit of attracting tourism. The map that I had apparently was put out by the state. The Beldraft Trail was marked, blazed with yellow markers. The site of the supposed gold bar find was marked with orange paint. The colors matched the map coloring. I am wondering if that is the norm in PA. Frank
