2014: The Hunter and the Hunted

I didn't have the extra bankroll on me, and there was no branch of my main bank to withdraw funds from to get the extra cash to open an account.

They are open on Saturday, so I'm going to call to see if they have those halves and then head up there and open the account and grab 'em. Hopefully.

Also, the box of dimes that I picked up yesterday was a skunk.

Well, the $900 in CWR of halves from earlier in the week were gone. So I never went to open that bank account. However, I did pick up three boxes of halves today that all gave up something...

Box #1 gave up five 40%ers:

1967 x 4
1968D

Box #2 gave up two 40%ers:

1967
1968D

Box #3 gave up eleven keepers, ten 40%ers and one 90%er:

1966 x 2
1967 x 2
1968D x 5
1969D
2001S Silver Proof

I opened an account before just to buy halves, it was a small credit union, the only one in town. Had 100 in halves. All rolls looked dirty, old and tape all over them. So i opened the account and even had to donate money to become a member, 25 dollars, got to my car with the halves and what did i get?? Not one silver coin, the buy looked promising but the coins inside looked like they were from a dump. Some were marked like they came from a box. Win some and lose some. Couldn't pass with how the rolls looked though. I just wonder if a crh staged the rolls to look good.

Picked up two boxes of halves over the weekend. One was a skunk, the other gave up four 40%ers:

1966
1968D
1969D x 2

Picking up one more box today on my lunch break, which will most likely be my last for the year.

The box that I picked up yesterday gave up five keepers, three 90%ers and two 40%ers:

1942 Walker
1944 Walker
1964
1967
1968D

Thought that was going to be my last box for the year, but apparently one of my pick-up banks has a single box left in their vault. Going to pick that up today.

The box of halves that I picked up yesterday gave up six keepers, two 90%ers and four 40%ers:

1963D Ben
1964
1967 x 2
1968D x 2

8-)

That was definitely my last box of the year. Went out on a good note. Year end results coming soon.

I am picking one box today. I may search it today as the last hunt of the year or tomorrow as the first hunt of the year. I am picking the box at 9am since I work for this bank. The question is if I can resist not openning here on the spot.

Here are my year-end totals:

Total silver found in 2014: 93.81 ozt.
Amount of silver found in reject trays: 3.21 ozt.

Total cost of silver found in 2014: $252.55.
DCA for 2014: $2.69/ozt.

It was a great year of hunting for me. A few firsts that I was excited to find, and I almost scored a dream box. Didn't pick up as much reject tray silver this year due to all but one of my dump banks installing new machines, but that's alright.

My goal for this year was to find 100 ozt. Came up a little short, but I sure can't complain!

Good luck in 2015, everyone!
