without a doubt that is one of the most
beautiful rings that i have ever seen !!!!!
Hello Allen, Thanks for the nice comments. The SB ring was indeed a beautiful ring. Such a big and heavy ring. Had to have a high quality camera to get the high resolution pictures. The ring had the whole top of it covered in diamonds and it was almost impossible to photo with a cell phone, average digital camera, or standard camera. Most of the pictures came out blurry. Too much reflection going on with those diamonds. It was truly a fun find. We enjoyed letting everyone look at it for 3 months. I like to show things to people that they have never seen before. This was truly an item that no-one had seen. They enjoyed it very much. I would have thought it would have made it to the banner, but not sure why, unless you have to be a charter member to get to the banner. That doesn't seem right, but maybe that the rules. Hello Caseyqo, It has been a while since anyone has guessed on the SB ring. Your guess is good, but still not correct. This player was a rookie and his position was defensive cornerback. He was on the Team for the 2008 Super Bowl, but has since been released. He had been released one other time, but was brought on board for the 2008 Super Bowl. Thats all I can say, at this time. I may give the gentlemans name out in the future, as I haven't heard anything from him since it was returned on Oct. 4th, 2008. Thanks for the guess, my TH friend. WTG on "doing the right thing"!!!! Just wanted to remind you though, you didn't "lose" your Dad, you know exactly where he is. My sister left us nine years ago and she was only 33. She was the baby of the family. I miss her every day, bus she isn't lost. I know that you know that, I just wanted to remind you. You are an ACE in my book.

Hello MZKITY62, Thank You for the kind words. I am truly sorry for your family. Such a young lady at age 33. You know, I never really looked at it that way, but you have a very good point. We know exactly where they are indeed. In the ARMS OF THE LORD. Take Care and God Bless You For The Inspiring View You Showed Me. Your TH Friend, Steviewhite-Fayetteville, WV

The only reason that I can think of, as to why the player didn't want his name associated with the ring. Is because he was waiting for his divorce to become final. Like she would have said; "What was youz doing at dat beach" you wuz supposed to be practicin' at de udder end of da state! :laughing9:..........NGE

Hello NGE,
It was strange that the player didn't want to talk about how he lost the ring. We thought that maybe he was married and was not supposed to be down there. When he picked the ring up, he came with his girlfriend, so I assumed that he was not married, but who knows. We thought that maybe his girlfriend got mad and threw it off of the balcony of the hotel, but it would have been a heck of a throw. I really think he was stoned and didn't know he had lost it or they would have looked for it, tracing back his path traveled. But he just didn't want to talk about it and didn't want any publicity. He did say that he was very embarassed about losing it and didn't even tell his parents. We will probably never know, but I would say there was some strange goings on when he lost it. Thanks for your response, my TH friend. Good Luck & Good Hunting !

Man. That is cool. I'd guess that's about the one and only story that will ever be told of someone MDing someone's Super Bowl ring randomly. Way to go!

Hello Tonesbones, Your the first remark I've got in a year or so. It was a blast, finding the ring and showing it to everyone. I had it for 3 months or so and I think everyone in WV got to see it. I believe I will release the players name soon. Still haven't heard from him. I'm building a Whites Surfmaster metal detector now and almost finished. Found a bunch of gold and silver rings this summer with the Excalibur. Thought I would try out the Surfmaster if we get any more warm weather. I believe the water hunting is about over here in WV. Maybe go to the beach and try it at Myrtle Beach. Ya know, what is sad is that the Super Bowl Ring didn't even make it to the banner. I was never told why. I asked on this site several times. Maybe because I wasn't a paying member, ya rekon? Well anyhow, Good Luck and Thanks For the Remarks, my TH friend, Steviewhite -Fayetteville, WV

HH,
Heard That Landstar, Yeah, It is sad that he didn't have a jersey or ticket to a game or something. Some people just don't care anymore. They seem to just care about self. It will always come back on a person if they don't appreciate what a THer does for them. It is unbelievable how some people have treated us (me and my brothers) for helping them find rings, keys, and all kinds of other stuff. Its like they think they are doing us a favor by letting us help them find their stuff. It all comes out in the wash though. Thanks for the comments, my TH friend, Good Luck and Hope CU again, steviewhite - Fayetteville, WV

Hello Gaijun1, Thanks for the remarks. I may, in the near future, give out the players name and show the pictures with his name on the ring. I think the guessing game has gone long enough. Many people would like to know who it was and I thinks it just about time to show the proof of the find. I can't believe noone has guessed the right players name. Well, take care of yourself in Morgantown and your friend in the picture. How bout them eers? Keep the loops swinging and Good Luck !

I know it has been a while since this thread was bumped, but...

Man Alive! That is some ring.

I'm guessing that the player didn't have access to a jersey or free tickets since he had been released from the team. It is disturbing, though, that he didn't at least offer a few crisp Ben Franklin's as a reward, if nothing else. Actually, it is pretty stunning that he made no reward offer at all.

I'd also venture to guess that the NYG were pretty upset that he lost the ring. Can you imagine? Heck, years ago, I had a brief case given to me by an employer and it was stolen from my car. Everyone got a brief case when they hired in, and while it was a lower end case, they were pretty upset with me. It was like I had slapped them in the face for losing it. I can't imagine how NYG management would have acted with a lost SB ring.

Your dad is awful proud of you for doing the right thing!!!!!

My father passed away on June 5th, 2008. He was almost 83 years old. He and my mother raised 12 children. I am the 3rd oldest of the 12 children. My name is Stevie White. We live in a little town in Southern West Virginia called Fayetteville. Fayetteville is known for its New River Gorge Bridge, which is the longest steel arch bridge in the Western Hemisphere. It is closed each year for Bridge Day so parachute jumpers can jump off of it. It is 876 feet above the New River.
Our family was terribly stunned by our fathers death. My mother and father were together nearly 65 years. My mother and older sister seemed to be grieving the most. I thought it would be a good idea to take them away from home for awhile to a more relaxing environment. I thought a trip to the beach would be a nice place to relax and help them to cope with our fathers passing.
We decided on Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the trip. I’m an avid treasure hunter, so I packed the Minelab Sovereign and a homemade sand scoop. The weather was beautiful so I hunted the beach every day. Some days I would hunt 15 hours without stopping. I found many coins, rings, earrings, and even a cell phone. The Sovereign proved to be an awesome beach detector. I have been using the Sovereign for about 7 years.
After seven days of beach hunting, the trip was winding down. I was still trying to get every minute of detecting in that I could. On June 29th, I was hunting on my last evening. I had found three silver rings but no gold rings. As I detected, I was talking to my deceased father, whom I deeply miss. I told him “ The next ring is for you Pa”. At that very instant, I hit a target. I dug down 3 inches and pulled up a very large mens ring. My first thought was that I had found the ring of a Roman Emperor. I cleaned the sand off the ring, and on the side it read “ Eleven Straight On The Road.” It was engraved so nicely, I figured it was too modern for a Roman ring. I saw a name on the other side of it, but still did not know what kind of ring it was. I knew it was an expensive ring since the top of it was covered in diamonds. I put it in my pocket and started to search again where I had found the ring. I stayed at this location for two additional hours and searched every square foot of this area. I figured someone would come out and say that they had lost a ring. I would have returned it to them if they could have identified it properly. No one showed up, so I started to head toward our hotel. As I was walking, I took the ring out and cleaned it again. I noticed the ring had an NFL logo on the side with the words “Super Bowl”. I was astounded that I had found some type of Superbowl ring. As I continued walking, several college students from Va. Tech stopped me on the beach and asked me if I was having any luck. I replied “ You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” They said “ Lets see what ya got” . I showed them the Superbowl ring and they were amazed. They informed me that it was this years Superbowl ring. They said “You are the luckiest man we’ve ever seen.”
I immediately called my brother John who lives in Charlotte, N.C. I told him “You will never believe what I found on the beach with my Sovereign metal detector. He replied “The Titanic ?” I laughed and told him I had found a Superbowl ring from this years Superbowl. He immediately went online and looked up Superbowl Ring. He asked me to explain what it looked like. I told him it was covered with diamonds on top and had the NY Giants logo on it. I told him it had three trophy’s on it with three large football-shaped diamonds. It had “World Champions” on the top and a date of 2/3/08 on the side with Superbowl XLII on it. He asked me what was engraved inside the band. I told him it said “Tiffany & Co.” He replied “You’ve got the real thing.” I was ecstatic. I hurried to our hotel room excited to tell my mother and sister what I had found. When I came in the room, my mother asked me if I had found anything today. I told my mother and sister to sit on the bed because I had found something unbelievable while detecting. When I told them I had found a Superbowl ring, they were absolutely amazed and could not take their eyes off the ring.
After further research, we determined that the rings value was in the $25,000 range. The ring has 67 small diamonds and 3 larger diamonds on the top of it. It weighs nearly 2.5 ounces and is 18 Kt white gold. A committee of NY Giants assisted in the design of the ring. Eli Manning and Michael Strahan were among the members of the committee. Michael Strahan, a NY Giants standout, indicated that he wanted the ring to be a 10 table ring - A ring that could be seen from 10 tables away. The ring is extremely large, as you will see in the pictures. We have been offered $10,000 cash for the ring to date, but I could not sell this players ring. I feel the Lord and my Pa would want me to return the ring to its owner. We contacted the NY Giants to arrange getting the ring back to its original owner. The ring was returned to it’s owner, in person, on October 4, 2008. The rookie player was thrilled to get his Super Bowl ring back. He would not disclose how he lost the ring on the beach. The only reward I got was the thrill of seeing him get his ring back. If I lost a Superbowl ring, I would hope that someone would return it back to me.

Note: The players name on the Superbowl ring was kept confidential for several reasons.

PS: Keep Your Loops Swinging My TH Friends - Dream Treasures Really Are Found !!!! Believe Me!!

UPDATED 11/10/2010 It has been nearly 2 & 1/2 years since the Super Bowl Ring was found and I think it is time to release the name of the player who lost the ring. Many people think I should release the name and I think it is only fair to everyone to see who lost the ring. Many people have guessed but strangely enough, noone has guessed it correctly. The players name is Darren Barnett, Number 41, as shown on the new pictures. Still haven't heard from him or any NYG staff. Well, I have really enjoyed everyones comments and opinions. Still can't believe it didn't make the banner. Oh well, Maybe I will find a hoard or something. Had a good summer with 40+ gold rings and 60 or so silver, titanium, and tungsten rings. Ran into several people at the beach who read this story on here and that was really cool. Hope to see more of you guys & gals hunting in the field. Can't wait until summer gets here, but hunkering down for winter. I try to answer all comments that are made on here. I will try and post a still pic of me giving him his ring back, when I figure out how to convert video into stills. It has been fun. Keep Your Loops Swinging & Good Luck To ALL and God Bless ALL!

Hello Clovis 97,

Thanks for the nice remarks. Man we really miss my Pa. Our large family has not been the same without him. Its amazing how life changes after a parent leaves us. But we must go on and continue living a life that The Lord and my Pa would be proud of.

Yeah, The player should have shown that he appreciated the return of the ring. I know I would have fixed someone up for returning my Super Bowl Ring. I'm sure the NYG's weren't too happy about him losing the ring. Shows some poor decisions were made by the player.

I have the video of me returning the ring here somewhere. I may post it on here soon. Take Care My TH Friend, and Keep Loop Swinging. Thanks for the post.

Stevie,

Thanks so much for the personal reply!

How about posting a picture of your dad?
