I'm a newbie, so my list should be modest.

1) Get a detector ;D I've decided on an MXT (and maybe an M6 for the wife)
2) 3 good rings, any color.
3) 1 merc
4) 1 silver quarter
5) 1 Indian Head
6) $50 in clad
7) 1 pre 1900 coin
8) 1 silver half (preferably a Ben)

Updated goals
1) Got the MXT
2) 4 junk rings, nothing good.
3) 2 mercs and 2 silver rosies
4) NOPE
5) found one, but no readable date or obverse for that matter
6) not quite, but close
7) YES, 1849 Braided Hair One Cent
8) Yes, but not detected

Overall, happy with my first year.

Congrats...as far as the rings go I would say the best place to look is the beach and the second best if no beaches are around would be a tot lot with woodchips or sand.
