Visited Mexico this past October for 2 weeks, conditions were not the best neither my reason for visiting. Foliage and plants double me in size and those who know me know im a big guy. Very limited access basically just where the tractor tracks passed and a few corn cut fields. The outings added up to maybe 4 or 5 hours. Here is an overview of the best finds

The lead came in form of bullets and round ball, don't know the age on them, but I suspect some are old, a lead soldier also made himself present.

2 Bronce Rings, one with a name INEZ, and old nail, and old crucifix missing christ, part of saddle ornament and the already mentioned lead toy.

Part of an Iron Jews Harp, What i think might be a small lipstick case ( Made in England )?., A pair of bronce tacks, an aluminium thimble and some random iron hooks.

The buttons showed up in the form of 3 early to mid 1900s iron back buttons, an even more modern cloth cover button also with an iron back, The best buttons are the small button that looks like the upper part of women body that us men love so much and the ball button missing its shank.

Finally the coins are as follow, 5 Centavos from 1955, a 1942 Un Centavo that cleaned up really nice, My first Jalisco (Thats my home state ) state copper from 1834 1/4 Real, and Big counterfeit 8 Reales from the Guanajuato mint dated 1850 that really broke me, because it was not silver, but Oh well a fake 8 reales is better than none, This is the coin I always wanted to find, a Mexican Republic 8 Reales thats why I chose this name when I created my Tnet account. HH and GL to all.

Outstanding finds. Great work.

What part of jalisco were u in.nice finds.

congrats on the finds!

Those finds are amazing. I did not realize the 8 Reale was that big! Counterfeit or not, it's impressive. The rest of the relics are what keep the fire going inside to get us thru these winter months! Congrats on the spectacular hunt!!!

I wonder what value or how desireable a counterfeit piece like that is. They cant be to common? I have some 8s but only finds. If I was going to collect it would be the 8 reales, and after you had every year of minting it might be nice to have a counterfeit piece too. Havnt checked prices yet. Man mexico must be an awsome place to hunt !! The possibilities, the history, the lack of detectorists.

Hi, yes 8 reales are dollar size coins, can't wait to go back when the area clears up and see what else pops out.

Doubt that has any significant value, maybe a few bucks, but i don't mind. At first i got upset it wasn't the real thing, but im starting to like, its cleaning up nice, but it does have some bubbling like all plated stuff that comes out of the ground. Mexico is a great source for old relics and coins, like u said the history and the few detectorists make finds like these possible.

Awesome. I have yet to find any reale over a 2.
