Big Roman site, spreading over 4 acre at least and not much to find because it was a roof tile manufacture where not much was lost. :tongue3:
A couple finds turned up though. Some pottery, loads of nails on this site because of the wooden sheds used for drying the tiles, no roman coins but a fibula and a terret ring fragment made the day. The terret ring broke during it's service and was repaired attaching a new mount fitting in with lead. First time i've seen such a repair.
Two rings, also two 1700s silver, one 2 Stüber 17xx and a 1/12 Reichstaler 1765. Other finds were a medieval strap end with broken off loop, three cupweight still sticking together, buttons modern coins.

Wow, I was looking through the forum and missed that post, just saw it now...
This looks like a fun hunt to me, congrats on the terret ring and the 2 silvers!
The fibula with the etched lines is also pretty cool!
Was this a new site you discovered or just a site you knew from before?

Amazing finds I wish I could hunt a site that old I love that kind of history I have display cases for stuff like that. The city I ;live in was founded in 1826 so not a lot of history Thanks for sharing your great finds Tommy

Looks better than the day I'm about to have!

Thanks Ben. I talked to a farmer and he told me about this site. It's long established but you know, time is scarce and fields are plenty....

Congratualtions on the coin and relics! :occasion14:

Missed this one. Nice silver digs and that terret ring is an interesting piece with that repair. Overall it must be an amazing feeling to hunt a Roman site. Very cool
