For us to be able to answer your question with much certainty, you need to give us super-precise measurements (in hundredsths-of-an-inch) of your bullet's diameter and length. Also, tell us the number of rifling-marks (ridges) on it. Are there four, five, or six?

If I had to make a preliminary guess based just on your photos, with no measurements, I'd say it is a .42-caliber Wesson Rifle bullet, from the 1860s through 1880s.

Your button has a European crown on its front. Definitely not any kind of American button. It appears to be a World War One era German Army enlisted-man's uniform button. But there's a chance it might be a late-1800s British Army button. Please clean its face at least a little bit to show the crown's details better, and post additional photos ...also showing its back.

Silversurfer1111, thank you for making and posting the additional photos, with the items tight against a ruler. Measurement with calipers is always best... but I think the new photos and ruler give me enough information.

In one of the new photos, I can see the second groove. That, combined with being "about" 12mm in diameter, makes it an 1860s-to-1880s Ballard .44 "New Model" Carbine or Rifle bullet. (Your fired bullet's diameter is slightly increased by the rifling-ridges.) Compare your bullet with the unfired one in the photo I'll post below.

The new photo of your button, after cleaning, confirms that it is a late-1800s-to-World-War-One era German Army enlisted-man's button. You did not post a photo of its back ...but because the front seems to be a match, I'll assume its back looks like the one in this photo.
