The first Wheat Field was the Roman Site we had been waiting to beat the night hawk on. It started well with Dads first dig being his best Roman Coin & our best dug from ploughed land :o We then struggled for hours to finally make 8 coins. This site has been hit hard after it was drilled with seed, so with the stubble, its the first battle to the Hawker. It will be the only time he will be up >:(

So after narrowing down where the site was, we moved to another Wheat field by an old church, we were hoping this wasn't hit too hard as well. Thankfully its right along people gardens, so we have made some new spy friends  This field was littered with roofing lead, so much so, it was hard for us to carry it all. Had a few interesting things:

Barrell Tap
Massive Lead Seal :icon_scratch: It has a man (prince maybe) with big frogs legs on one side & a Dress & arm showing where the 'Princess' was. Coutermarked several times & even scratched with 'SE' - what & why :icon_scratch:
Early Fishscale Crotal Bell
2 Jettons
1 Royal Farthing
My first complete Tudor Book Mount - lovely patina & rose design :)
2 possible Pilgrims Badges, needs more research, I'm sure I've seen those Lead Stars in a book of mine...

With some effort & lots of digging, the signs are good for Hammered...

7.5 hours, so a 17.5 hours digging weekend (& I forgot how much I hate Wheat stubble)

Nice finds from wheat stubble :icon_thumleft: you can keep all that :-\ I rather wait for it to rot, or get ploughed :) Don't know why you are so bothered about the Hawker :dontknow: it's hard enough during the day :-\ with out the added disadvantage of the night, and constantly looking over your shoulder

Nice roman, and other "stuff" Do they allow you to shoot hawkers in England. To me they are no better than thieves to sneak on someone's property without permission and possibly ruin it for ligit hunters.

Cool finds once again. This looks like WW2 Wehrmacht button :read2:.
a button on this site looks the same as yours

thanks, you have both drawn my attention to something I thought was modern(ish) civilian. I now have checked the backmark - 'MOTZ' which seems to be a German manufacturer which fits nicely. So I will file under 'Military' now :icon_thumright:

We are a bit more advanced here in the UK, I wonder do you report all your Gold rings to the Polices lost and found department

Only if they could be positivly Ided. It causes more problems than it would be worth. But what I do is legal, whereas trespassing on private property isn,t. And I won't get into the advanced thing.

There is no law in England covering trespassing on private property, it's a Civil matter, but there is a law about theft by finding :icon_thumleft:

Nice finds again Cru, terrible wheat stems though. I hope your arm holds out. Nice finds.

About the two star objects, I think I have seen something like that also, will look.
