I went for a short hunt this morning while my wife was working and I got a King George copper that I posted earlier.
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,78631.0.html

After my wife finished work She wanted to detect for a short time this afternoon (I did Too), So we went back to the same spot that has been producing so well for us and Markg and TnT2000, And after about 1/2 hour my wife said she got something but did't know what it was. I went and looked at it, and got the book out of the truck and realized it was a New Jersey Copper Wide Shield, they were made from 1786 to 1788. After going back to hunting about 15 minutes later my wife calls me on the walkie talkie and says "your not going to believe this but I just got another Big Coin". MarkG and I walked over to where she was and I couldn't believe my eyes. A 1796 Liberty Cap Large cent. We all started pounding that area and about 5 minutes later I got a dime signal at 4" and it was a 2000 dime. I rescaned the hole and got a great quarter signal and dug again and out came another New Jersey Copper with the narrow shield. I can't believe the coins that we have been pulling out of this site. And a Special thanks to MarkG and TnT for telling us about this spot.
Thanks for looking
Ken And Linda

Wow Ken, those are some mighty fine coins you two have found.

Hopefully someday I'll find a copper!. Here in NW Ohio it's kinda hard to find a coin like that.

But I'm not saying it's impossible. One of the oldest coin's I ever found is a 1717 Munday Thursday coin, that I found at a War of 1812 site. I do a lot of relic hunting, so maybe someday I'll stumble upon one of the fine coppers you two keep finding.

Again Congratulations of some great finds. Also hunting with your wife, PRICELESS.

Thanks for all the replies and comments. Chris I found out that the one I found on the weekend was a 1795 or 1796 liberty Cap, Thanks to DonSJ. Thanks again to everyone for the help with the ID's and to TnT and MarkG for the pleasure of hunting with them. My Wife also thanks everyone for the nice comments. And Ringfinder you are absolutely right about hunting with the better half, it sure is nice to have a hobby we both enjoy SOOOOO MUCH. Good Luck to everyone and we Hope you get to feel the joy when coins like this pop out of the ground.

CONGRATS KEN AND LINDA! Those are some incredible coins and I'm glad I was there to share the moment. Too bad its raining hard today or I'd be back out there. I still can't believe the mix and quantity of old coins that we pulled out of that spot and they are still coming.
Those coins couldn't have found their way to 2 nicer people!
Talk to you soon.
Mark

Great finds - congrats ... one day I will find a NJ copper.

Remarkable finds, Ken and Linda! You've managed to find several coins in that one hunt that some people have taken years to find (if ever).

Well done!

FULL STANDING OVATION - BRAVO - OUTSTANDING
