We started in the morning on a field we had some intel on about a possible pre-historic site. Although in the morning we had plenty of Medieval & Roman Pot Shards, there was no other signs of a Roman Settlement. Maybe the odd nail, not much lead etc..
So after lunch we moved to the next field, after about an hour gridding over a Medieval house picking up lots of pottery & only 1 Buckle plate we made a decision to check our GPS intel & return to the first field. It was using Archies GPSing that centred on an aerial shot, that was not visible on Google Earth but only gave a 6 fig ref, so it only narrowed it to a 100 metre square.
Once Cru'dad put us in the right general area, we gridded the opposite grid pattern to our previous loose grid search. So as to get the width of the site & not go back over where we had been before. I think it was the second run & bang, my first Celtic Gold of the year.:headbang: (Our 3rd!)

17th C Button
Fossil
17th C Token
Medieval Spur Rowel
1st C AD Fibula bit
Medieval Buckle plate
Dad got an odd broken 3 way strap junction, looks early medieval & not like any I have seen before. Can't find a ID.
Celtic Gold Stater - Minted in France by the Ambiani circa 58BC. Also known as the Gallic War type. Dad & I have had 2 each of this type, the one Dad got early this year miles away was given to the landowners. Depending on how it goes, this one may as well.

And the finds keep coming - simply amazing Cru!! You make it look so easy, but we all know what it takes to even give yourself a slim shot at making finds like this. I glad someone out there is killing it while I struggle to even find a field to hunt on. Continued good luck to you guys ....

What a beautiful pony Cru! Sometimes the quiet fields just have the best ones lurking around.

Another Celtic gold! You find gold coins at the same rate that I find wheat pennies haha! Impressed yet again, congratulations!

You guys never fail to impress , stellar finds with every outing , such a long period of history in " Ol Blighty " , I'm very envious .. cheers Mick

UH OH ANOTHER SEAHORSE TOKEN , AND GOLD TO BOOT. MAN CRU THE FOSSIL FIND IS NEAT AS HECK . WHAT GREAT FINDS . DAMN IF I ONLY HAD THE BETTER HEALTH AND MONEY I WOULD BE LIKE A PIG IN IF I HAD A CHANCE OF A LIFETIME HUNT THAT PRODUCED RELICS LIKE THAT .

Another WoW!!!!! That is so awesome, congrats! :occasion14:

This must be the hottest streak you have been on for a while! :occasion14:

Gold...man ur killin it Cru!! Great job!

Crusader, it is absolutely AMAZING the items that you find! Those of us across the pond are jealous of the amount of history you get to touch in each hunt. Congrats and best of luck to you! Once I find that sweet $20,000 diamond ring I keep hoping for, I'll be over to the UK to see how it's done! Hat's off to you and your Dad!

Oh Cru, here we go! You make it look easy, as some on here do, but few undoubtedly understand what you go through for those results. You get it done and You and Cru'dad continually inspired me to try harder. Most finds don't come easy on either side of the pond but you remind everyone of the potential out there. Cheers on the gold bud.
Steve

Although I'll never get the finds you do in the UK, it's nice to see your finds. You've had quite a few of them. One of these days I have to cross the pond and do some looking myself. Great finds!

Congratz a Gold and a great piece of history!

A Very Nice Gold Piece you got there!
A BANNER For sure IMO.

Are most of the other items made of Lead or Bronze?

Love the Fossil , VERY COOL , NOW that's OLD.

In the 3rd pic, down , piece at bottom left W/2 Holes & an Iron piece coming out ....What is that ? & when does it date to?
Maybe a Dumb Question but when did they start Combining the 2 Metals?
Thanks
Davers

At lunchtime the fossil was my best find.

Yeap, Dad & I discuss that quite a bit. In the first 2.5 hours I had 0 buttons, very quite field.
