hi all! this is my first time on this forum and my first summer with my metal detector! i have a question , i tried the school across from my home and in a small area of the park i have been finding some items i believe go back to the 1800's . 1st thing i found was an 1848 large cent from usa (rough shape but it helps me determine the age of the other items) all though finding this was odd seeing as i live in ontario canada.
but anyway i found a few items like this little copper dude about an inch and a half tall it is solid but i cant find any info on it , its shape of the legs would suggest it would fit on a horse, but i dont think that it is a cowboy. looks more like a chinese warrior with a sheild on his back? next item is this copper ring with a blue stone (stone has faint surface cracks)the sides have almost like pin size dots to make the shape of an arrow on either side and again i cant find anything about the ring either. i know these items maybe worthless but i think its cool that a park right by me that i see a half dozen other metal detectors out there still has these items to be found. any input would be great , i also found a blob of molten copper and what i think may be a blob of molten silver which suggests there may have been a fire here many years ago, i have now been all over this park and the only place i find the old stuff is a very small corner of the park
thanks guys!

I can't make out your guy, but could it be the driver of a wagon, car, truck or tractor? Are his hands in the traditional "10 and 2" position? Sometimes there is a peg on the bottom (no comments, I have already made them all) of the guy that fits into the seat. I have seen these as far back as cast iron buckboards. And 1930s FarmAlls.

I wish we had better pics. The items are too small. Do you have a macro lens? Try the macro setting with a solid color background and crop if necessary.

Your camera seems to be focusing on the background.

Hi and welcome ! Some closer pics would be nice to see what you have up close, another thing that bothers me is that you find an 1800's us coin and all I ever find are your quarters that nobody will accept.... just doesn't seem right lol

no his hands are in a position like he is about to swing a baseball bat, there are no holes for pegs anywhere

The new pics better. Thats a cool little guy. Are you sure its copper?

Could it be a RR worker?

The ring looks like it was plated with a torquoise or opal. Any markings?

well the ring and the man had a green patina much like copper would have (i buffed the ring a bit to bring out the copper color a bit) i didnt fully clean the man yet but there was a very small scratch i could see redish color coming through,

Looks like a mail order misses or ladies ring. Some say "large torquoise." Take your pic. The Sears catalog is 1909.

--its a old metal toy --forget the cowboy --try his "foe" the indain --- native american indain (look at head think " indain cheif feather headress") --spear held in hand (cross body while riding) sheild hung on back - riding (missing* horse ) -- american coins are not uncommon in canada (in border areas especially) --nor the other way around --- folks often went back and forth -- usa / canada --all the time in the old days in the fur trade * ( think 1850 to say 1920 ish era as the modern fur trade era ) --quite common event .

Suggestion...when photographing an item, the background should provide a contrast...

The pics provided are quite confusing and makes an ID quite hard.

The picture I found is a plastic Indian from Japan but it appears to be modeled after the same.

Well I thought that the little guy was a dancing NINJA!
But hey, I have been wrong before, once or twice.... actually more than twice......so 'she who must be obeyed' tells me :-\
Cheers

My first impression was also ninja. I did a negative image of the figure and enhanced it a bit. Now I think knight. Definitely not an Indian.
