2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

Hi again!

I got up to the High School, well the area right outside the public swimming pool that is on the same land as the HS, and in 2 hours I found my first Wheatie Penny (1944S) and my first Quarter (1966), I found 8 other pennies ranging from the early to mid 70s and mid 80s.

I don't think this area has been hunted before and there's SOOOO many places left to search and I didn't even finish up the area I was in cause I had to catch the bus home.

So next Sat I'll go up again early with the niece and spend more time there.? Can't wait for school to be out so I can go before 3 in the afternoon!

I'm chuckling. You had me going there for a second. Had to check your age. Thought you were a high schooler, when you said not going until school is out and catching a bus.... ;D Nice finds. Keep it up.

Carl,

LOL! Nope have to wait to hunt when school is out and then I have only about 2 hours to hunt before the metro bus I take home comes.

It is the High School I went to, and I hated it so it seems only fitting that it's giving me money and hopefully more as payback of my horrible years there!

hey SM that quarter sounded off and large didnt it!the jump into your pouch when you walk by with the MD for me.than can for you how are your search sweeps?whats your pattern/s?do you probe with a,well a probe?want to help you on your searchs with some tips im sure youve read a bit.what are you technics?

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

dekalb,

I'm having a hard time understanding all your questions.

I find with rocky areas, which a lot of the places I search are, probes don't do much I'm more likely to pop up rocks then anything else.

I try to go up and down the area I'm searching in a pattern.? And when I dig I use the horse shoe shape and use a cloth for any dirt I dig out.

Wow,...that was cryptic.

Sounds like your having fun. I bet you get some funny comments and looks on the bus when they see your detector :)

Rod,

The bus driver who picked me up to go to the HS asked me if I had found anything cause he'd see me in my yard hunting. There was two boys on the bus as well and they were asking me about it to and the one sitting next to me turned my MD on and off, I was too polite to say "please don't do that."

There was a door that just opened. You should ask the bus driver if his yard is open for you to detect. You might think about acquiring a soft detector bag-helps protect your detector and keeps prying hands off. If still haveing straying hands problems then ask nicely or threaten to break their fingers ;D HH

Good work SonjaMarie. Sounds like you had a great day. That school is a big place to hunt. Just think about where people staznd or walk the most. Along the the sidewalk, ball field bleacher area & things like that. Go slowly & have fun. Spotz

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

Spotz,

Considering the amount of land the 3 schools are on I can see me hunting this site for a long long time. I'll be some what limited when school is in session and the bus fare can add up so that can be a problem to, though if I can start finding even more Modern Clad I can use that as bus fare.

I recieved my application for hunting at one of the local parks which I'll mail out tomorrow and that's another place that's rather large and will take some time to hunt it all properly.

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

So glad to hear you're expanding your searches beyond your yard. What a difference to hear about the coins and not the junk. Sounds like you're getting the hang of it. Have fun!

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

You're doing great Sonja. Since you went to that school, do you remember any of your friends or classmates mentioning that they had lost a ring or jewelry at some general location. If so it might be worth a look see. Myself i can't remember what i ate yesterday.....uh....or was that this morning? Oh well. Keep it up Sonja

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

Yes schools are great areas to hunt. I like to keep an eye on the lost and founds. High schoolers have a tendency to lose there class rings.

Re: 2 Hours & 28 cents Later AKA First Wheatie & Quarter

Sadly I didn't really have friends at the schools on Vashon which is why when I had a chance to do my senior year at a community college I leapt at the chance to get out of there!

But if I happen to find any class rings I'll try to locate their owners and get them back to them. I didn't get a class ring, instead I paid for half a diamond and sapphire ring that I still wear.

Sorry for slow replies I was in Everett, WA watching Duran Duran in concert last night. THEY ROCKED!
