2 COPPERS* WOODS HIBERNIA *CT* EARLY COLONIAL SHOE BUCKLE*IH'S

mine and sniffy's day started out lookin for 2 cellar holes supposedly along a river.once we got up there we couldn't find anything but a mountainous steep hillside sloping 45 degrees downwards towards the river.was a rough start.the pic doesn't show really how steep it was.
Next we decided to go back to the 1710 house that the owner said we could come back.
the wife told us we could search an hour cuz they were gonna be doing yardwork.I dug 3 indian heads.one 1889 & 2 being fatties.dates are wiped out but one has no shield on reverse so it has to be 1859.next target after IH's was a small copper a woods hibernia i believe.no date.we thanked owner and cruised around the area.saw 2 cellar holes along side of road.1st site coughed up the no date Connecticut.obverse is shot but enough on back to ID it.second site gave up a 1900 IH & the complete early colonial shoe buckle. ticks are out be careful!
broke 50 large coppers & 50 IH's with these coins today

Good hunt, and great assortment of finds. Around those steep embankments would be a good place for some
roughnecks to hide stolen goods. Might be worth a look-see. (Maybe your area has some of those kinds of stories)
Much of the stuff that I find - here in Korea - is older than what you are finding....but none of it is better.....
you've got the quality on me, hands down. More good hunts is my wish for you.

i don't think anyone in their right mind is gonna be frolicking around on this hillside.holding onto trees with detector and shovel in one hand trying not to plunge 20 feet down was hairy enough for me.

Re: 2 COPPERS* WOODS HIBERNIA *CT* EARLY COLONIAL SHOE BUCKLE*IH'S

Wow! Just amazing. I have finally determined that colonials up here in Massachusetts had double-hull pockets to ensure they never dropped anything.

I have done research finding old roads and houses and still no good finds (plenty of clad and relics though).

Dave

I think 2011 will be a year you remember forever, darn hard to top what you have accomplished this year with your great number and some special coins and relics you have found! Big Congrats on all the great posts you have made this year, enjoyed them all.

nice coins my friend, i never seem to get out enough to get much of anything like that. 1710, man that's old, I like old houses and my guess the house would be a saltbox style or one of those early pilgrim simple style high pitched roofed houses, or it has a barn shaped roof.
