Hey all, these are the finds from the past two days where myself and UMRGolf2000 went out and spent a few hours

digging two seperate spots of mine in two different places on 2 consequtive days. One was a spot that was a

small 2 day camp and the other a larger site that has been hit in the past. We came up with some interesting finds

including these below; Jeff's finds are on the left and mine are on the right:

*FIRST and foremost this AWESOME small cuff-sized 2 piece, ironback button with a big STAR on it

Mar 9-10 2010 (8).JPG
Mar 9-10 2010 (7).JPG

*A VERY worn...prob one of my worst; General Service Eagle Button

Mar 9-10 2010 (9).jpg

*Ring from Lantern stem with writing: Pat'd Mar 10 1868
Mar 9-10 2010 (18).JPG

*Very Early Colonial Pewter button with a floral design around the rim
Mar 9-10 2010 (11).JPG

* Early button "Plated" on back
Mar 9-10 2010 (17).JPG

*Silver Gilted KEPI buckle--the best gilted one I've ever dug or seen dug
Mar 9-10 2010 (19).JPG

*J.B. Humphreys and Sons Coin Silver spoon handle
Mar 9-10 2010 (1).JPG

*Artillery Sword Bayonet Scabbard Tip
Mar 9-10 2010 (9).jpg
*Heart shaped piece of jewelry

*Folded up saddle piece; looks like it says "colt" on it and a place to hang a gun

*Remains of a Civil War brass Number "1" or Letter "I"

*Piece of shoulder plate
*Rivets, percussion cap, camp lead, jewelry, bullets, etc.

Mar 9-10 2010 (3).JPG

Jeff's finds were below:

*Star embossed Rivet
*Bullets
*Rivets
*Buckles
*2 Indian Head Pennys
*Buttons, etc
He almost had a nice coat-sized button that would've been a possible Confederate button but when he
pulled it out it was only the back :'( :P

*An odd brass piece that has a rivet stamped through it...the remains of some accoutrement no doubt

Our Finds together: Jeff's on the left, mine on the right.

I believe it is from the period, but I don't think the star notates any type of civil war state or regiment. I've found 2 this year.. not sure really ??? Thanks Deb ;D

You two had a great hunt and a good time together. Your posting is one of the best I've ever seen - good pictures, well labeled and you did at least some of that work for US the people you shared with. Thank you! Good luck with your next hunts!

Herb

Thanks man. That's actually is cool of you to say that. You'd be suprised how often the hard work that goes into these posts is overlooked by some folks. :icon_thumleft:  Its nice to get a complement like yours once in a
while

Josh, Great finds buddy! You're doing well for the year...
