One of the best days out detecting this year, two bucket list items!

Bucket List Item #1 Seated Liberty half dollar: I haven't found any seated coin larger than a dime so far, I skipped right over quarter and hit the half dollar lotto! It's in amazing condition, looks like it was dropped a couple weeks after it was minted. Additionally, I have been in a silver half dollar dry spell, Nov 10th 2013 was the last time I found one. One of the property owners next to the one I was on came out just as I found it. I shared my excitement with him and long story short he gave me the green light to detect his 1860's mansion on 6+ acres!

Bucket List Item #2 Working Toy Cannon: I see variations of these types of cannons posted from time to time and every single time I tell myself that is something I want to find. It just blows me away that they would make mini-working cannons and lets kids play with them. The sad part is when I found it in the field, I did not even know what I had, I thought it was a broken handle to a drawer pull or something and did not pay any attention to it. I was video recording all my finds as I found them as I'm going to dabble in YouTube videos at some point. I did not even record what is a bucket list item for me, but it was a pleasant surprise when I got home and started cleaning it off. Can anyone tell me anything about it, possible age?

As far as the remainder of the items they just complemented what was a banner day for me.

Question: The 1837 seated dime, first year of the series, on the reverse, is that after minting damage, or possible some sort of bubble in the blank used to create the dime? If so, does that add any value to it? Also, according to my price guide there were large date and small date variations on this year, can someone tell me what I have?

Question: Does anyone have an idea what the "what's it" is?

Fantastic finds for sure. If your "what's it" refers to the rusty thing, to me it looks like part of a horse bit. Possibly a watering bit.

Amazing!! The half, Conn state seal are simply awesome! And the fatty's, nice!

Awesome day-especially the half. Regarding the "what is it?", could it be part of the cannon-maybe it fit into the back part when it was loaded?

TALK ABOUT RUBBING SALT IN THE WOUND DANG ...... WHAT NICE FINDS .

Wow, congrats!

GREAT video. Love that half. Amazing condition as you know. You have a wonderful field to play in. Thanks for sharing.

Great post! awesome finds. I like how you detail everything!

Incredible. That was a day that you will never forget. A seated half on a live dig? It doesn't get any better than that. Did you get the answer on the variety of the seated dime? I didn't see an ID in the comments but maybe I missed it. Unbelievable finds!

Those Cannons are 17th/18th/19th C. I think yours fulls in the 18th C. Although Toy is commonly used, you would have to be a fairly rich kid to have one. Used as a after dinner Gentlemen's play thing.
Your doesn't 100% fit any of the documented types/designs of the booked examples but its closed match is a Type 3, Design 1.
