2 Box detectors???

Hey TC,

Did you ever find a two box to use?
I don't have one, but if I did, you would certainly be welcome to it :)

I am actually looking to buy a used Discovery TF-900, if I can find one.

How about that detector that Rob in KS made and showed us at the Caldwell KS Hunt...would it work for what you are wanting to do?

hey shadow blue how much do you want for your two box? I'll offer you 300 dlls or you tell me. I can get them for 495 dlls but you tell me o.k.
I'm really interested.

I built both BFO and r/t, most of what we built in those days were prob just as efficient as the manufactured ones. I remember when Garrett did the obvious and sold a stabilized BFO. Before some were so unstable that just going from the sun into the shade set them off sheesh.

The users now, don't really appreciate what they have available today.

Yep!
My first White's MD did that.. :P
I could walk from the shade into the sun and it would go out of "Tune" !
You're right ! ;)
Today's MD'ers don't know how advanced these devices have become!
BUT!
What's going to be down the road from here ?? ;)

Let me chime in and state that a two box is good for limited detecting applications when cache hunting as we are seeing here. However my detector dealer who was a professional cache hunter for 50 years said 10 years ago the SD2000 with an 18" coil was his first choice of tools to cache hunt. So the Naulitus with the 15", the Whites with the 15" or 36", the Garrett with the 12.5 or 10x14 or the new Minelab's sd series with the largest coil you can tame may be the way to go and only if the application demands and we know how to use and when, then use a 2 box.

Well my guess is that the full potential of the 2-box may have only been reached. Targets have been recovered down to 13 ft and known test target to 16ft. I am testing a Gem2 unit by geophex. This is a 25000,00 EM unit.

I have some plots of a cement treatment plant tank. The same tank I did with the GCG unit. If you want to look at these you can see them at the bottom of the page.

http://lrlman.com/Pages/Arc-Geo Pro/AGL_P.htm

The plot was done with the TM-808 whites in cave mode and set to automatic. Both plots are the same size, yet the Gem2 looks smaller for some reason. The person that did the field test report says that you should be able to see a car engine size target with the TM-808 and logger with no problem!

So to say that the 2-box does not go deep is incorrect. The problem is hearing the response from the unit.
