2 1/2 IH Dollar Coin & 1850 California Gold "One: Coin

Searching through a box in my basement I came across this strange pin that is my grandma's. She says it's from her uncle who lived in Wyoming and thinks it was given to her mother. She says it could have been gievn to her around 1928 or so.

This looks like a tie pin of some sort, but I am confused on what the small gold piece could be originally from.

Please help with IDing this piece. Also, any ideas of where it could originally be from besides California plus the value.

Thanks

I don't know much about the California gold, but before the Feds stepped in there were some private concerns making their own coins. I think your number two coin is a fine example of one of those mints. Tony

The original California Gold coins should say the denomination i.e. DOL or DOLLAR

Replicas usually don't. There were a lot of replicas made in the 1960s.

Also, none of the original California gold coins have bears as part of the design.
