1st time out....ever

Hi all, I am new to both this forum and to metal detecting. I just picked up a White's MXT Friday night. I took it out for the 1st time today. I went to the beach. It was 15 degrees but sunny. I spent about an hour and found a quarter and a penny. Pretty good I think considering I am new and am just learning how the machine works. The quarter was 6 inches down, the penny about 2 inches. It's too cold to go anywhere else since the ground is frozen and snow covered. Like I said, I am new and just learning, so I consider my trip out a success. I am spending alot of time reading these forums and am learning alot just by looking at the stuff everyone has found and reading the stories behind them. I look forward to enjoying my new hobby.

found this site and got hooked
the members of this site can give you more info in one day then you can get by yourself in a life time

tried taking a pic of the yen. can't get it right. i need to wait for daylight. i do not have enough light in my house and the flash whites it out. i enabled the macro focus, but when i get close without a flash, it's too dark. I'll poke around the board and see if there are photo tips.
