Just returned last night from O.C. Md. Was there 4 days with a family group of 12, only had a chance for about 1 hr. MD'ing. Forgot the sand scoop, only had a plastic trowel. Got readings at the waterline but usually only on 1 pass, couldn't target, found a lot of junk in the dry sand, a AA battery about 5", a can at 6", a hair pin a few inches down. Cleaned up a few handfulls of junk but came home home with with nothing but a tan. Too much to do & no time for MD'ing. But I'm learning. Hunted near 24th st.

I have been to the local lakes here in SE ohio and have only found junk also... a little bit of clad... but whether im in the water or the sand.... same result... I really respect those who find nice things at the beach

If you keep at it the good stuff will come! I can't count how many times I go out and get skunked, but when you do get a good day you forget about all the bad ones!! ;D

:( Sorry you didn't hit the GOLD or Wilver this time around. Don't give up! Its there....... When you see that 1st keeper, other than a coin in your scoop, you'll be hooked for life on beach hunting! HH and glad you enjoyed your 4 days at the beach anyway.

Trust me I know all to well how it feels to dig a ton of trash. As a matter of fact I was so frustrated with the trash to keeper ratio that I was all ready to throw in the towel. A lot of people on this forum responded to my post (rant) about finding nothing but trash. Thanks to their encourgement I stayed with it. I have still found no silver or gold or anything but clad coins. I am determined to stick with it though. So that is what I say to you. Just stick with it. I have realized that people are just going to drop more trash than anything else and one must be willing to dig the trash and learn their detector and how it operates. I have nothing but respect for the guys and gals on this forum who seems to consistently find old coins and keepers. Hopefully someday I can join that group. Until then I have to be satisfied with getting out of the house and not just sitting on my butt all day doing nothing.
Best of luck to you and happy hunting.

you'll live longer if anything, stay active!!!!!. Junk No Junk.

I have heard but have not proven yet, that the best jewelry finds are in the water. From waist deep at high tide to waist deep at low tide. My only problem is trying to hit low tide, I always seem off.

Stay with it and don't get upset with all of the junk. The same happened to me as I can't believe how people can throw their trash on the beach instead of in the barrels. But they do and you just have to live with it. I was picking up clad and nothing really old to date. However, I have found some jewlery, mostly junk but did find a nice 14k mens gold necklace. It will happen just stay with it.
