Hi everyone! This is my very first post. My husband, JerV3 has been an active member on here for quite some time now and I recently started going out hunting with him. I wish I would have started a long time ago! He's been teaching me a lot and it's been challenging to learn everything there is to know! I have made a few good finds and I will post those separately in a different post. We were hunting an old mine camp last night and I found this 1915 dog tax tag. I had no idea what it was until we got it home and cleaned up. My husband says they are pretty popular and I tried to find the same one online but couldn't find too much information about it. It says 1915 - Dog Tax Paid - All'y CO which I am assuming is Allegheny County. Below is a picture. Any information anyone could provide would be awesome! Thanks so much, I am looking forward to many more posts!

Welcome to Tnet.

Always good to learn from a pro, you can suck up years of experience in days instead of a lifetime.

Good luck.

That's an old one. Never saw that style before. Say Hi to Jeremy for me.

I know jerV3! You are going to find some good stuff hunting with that dude!

Congrats on the 100+ year old dog tag. That is a nice find.

congrats on the very cool find, sounds like you have someone to really get you going good. my wife and I now compete with each other and it is more fun as she gains more confidence. Go get em!:icon_thumright:

Welcome aboard and cool tag :icon_thumright:

Ask Neil McElroy at [email protected]. He is the absolute dog tag guru and will be glad to give you more info about this find! American dog tags from the teens are scarce, those from the 1800's are rare and valuable, and yours has an interesting design as well. He'll also be able to tell you if yours is the oldest known from the county (probably not) but it's still probably worth $5-10 or more in this shape. Dog tags usually have serial numbers, which would have been in the middle of 1915 on this one, so maybe yours is a blank that hadn't yet been issued?

Always love finding dog tags, especially the older ones like you found. That's a really cool find!

Nice find! Welcome to TNET!

Well, that's a great piece of local history for a first post. Well done!:icon_thumleft: It's always great to see a couple joining together sharing their passion as a unit. Of course as you become more adept at getting the good stuff a bit of competition can be fun too. Congrats on the cool recovery and welcome to the greatest of all sporting adventures. :hello:

I find quite a few Dog tax tags around here, and I think they're pretty neat. Yours looks in great shape, congrats and welcome to T-net. HH!
