1990's time capsule/cache

I was detecting at a home site way out in the woods that was on the 1945 map of the area yesterday, and found something totally unexpected. I got a good hit, and about 4 inches down I saw a metal tin with the lid still on. Im thinking its a silver stash from the 40's at first, but I definitely didn't expect to see teenage mutant ninja turtle memorabilia from 1991 when I opened it! Even though the tin only had one coin and a token, there were still some pretty cool finds in there, the latest item being 1992. There were several polished rocks, a crystal, 1989 canadian dollar coin, Aladdins castle token from Vegas, teenage mutant ninja turtles stickers and bandana, a button that reads "If you are what you eat, then you wiz what you aint." Also there was a brass snake, little pieces of baseball cards from 1992, a magnet, 2 clay things that I think the kid made in art class, a junk chain, and 13 gun shells of various calibers. I have no idea why this kid buried all of his "treasures" in 1992, but it was my first time capsule and I thought it was a cool find. Also during the hunt, I dug a nice tootsie toy truck, and about 10 lbs in scrap copper. Thanks for looking and HH!

that is different!neat find. If it was mine it would have had those garbage pail kids cards, and probably a 'penthouse' magizine:laughing7:I was a 80's child.Does anyone remember those little orange muscle men things?I bet they would be very collectable now.

You mean Stretch Armstrong !? Ha..curiosity actually got the better of me back then, while visiting a friend, as an inquisitive 8 year old..I poked one open with a pencil...ugh..some rubbery, oozey stuff poured out and I got my a.. beat. And yes, they are QUITE collectible..when they don't have holes poked in'em!....HH..DDF

When I was a kid in the early 90s I had the entire set of those Ninja Turtles cards. It took me many many many weeks of doing chores to save up to buy each pack, but I ended up with all of them. No clue what happened to them, probably got sold at a garage sale or thrown away over the years. I had garbage pail kids cards too, those were totally rad! As far as nudey mags all we could manage was to "borrow" some from my friend's dad, and they were all from the 70s LOL. Man I miss our fort in the woods...

That's a super cool find. It may not be "old" but it is a snapshot of life in the early 90s. Love it!

Thanks! I think its cool too for that reason. Its cool to get a variety of stuff that the kid once owned back in the early 90's

My time capsule would have definitely had some .177 pellets and some bb's in it because at that age I was never without my rifle! No bottle, street light, or G.I. Joe was safe when I was around!

I wish I could have found your time capsule haha I always shoot my pellet gun!

To think, that was twenty years ago! Man, where does the time go? Nice save!

That "Aladin's Castle" token brings back memories... That was the name of the arcade in the mall here in Washington State in the late 80's...had my hands on a few of those tokens back on the day. does that one say "Las Vegas" on it?
Cool finds, thanks for posting!

Just read that "aladdin's castle" had 360 locations before changing their brand in 1989...surprised more people 25-35 in age don't remember going to one of them...cool find!

Thanks! Only one side is legible, the other is caked in rust, but it does give the name of a hotel in Vegas I believe, I will have to look at it again!

Thanks! Was it some kind of arcade? The '80s were before my time!
