Went to my local CU to get some cash to pick up my 1 box of dimes, 2 boxes of pennies and 2 boxes of nickels and asked teller if he had any half's. Told me he only had one. I took it as normal and it was a 1987 D. pretty worn but WTH! I have done tons of boxes of halves and have only found 2 in the wild and those were proofs. never found a D and in rough condition. Looks like it came from one of the casinos as the edge is almost smooth like casino coins going through the slots. anyhow. I hadn't posted in a while and thought I'd share. I have 1500 in halves to pick up Friday plus all what I got today so this should keep me busy for a few days. HH

I don't get the meaning of your post....
Did you buy the 87-D half? They are NIFC.... only issued in mint sets (87-P) as well. I have found a few...

nope. did not buy it. got it from a teller when asking for halves. ( paid for it though) i only have found a couple in the wild but they were all real nice. this one was pretty worn. I know they are only NIFC.... only issued in mint sets (87-P) as well. I will post a pic of it later. Like I said it was odd that it was so worn.

That's true. The few I've found were AU-BU

It took over a year to find my first 87, but I've found 4 or 5 now, including one I found in a box yesterday. It was an ender.

The 1987 half has eluded me but I have come across a few halves where all of the reeding was worn smoth on the edge so I guess these could have spent many miles rolling into slot machines, too. There is a slight appeal for coins that are worn almost slick on the surfaces, especially newer coins. Makes me wonder what they have been used for to wear them out so much.
