I was looking at coins I got from the bank, I exchanged for coin rolls.
I found quite a few 1984 d pennies. I was looking to see if any were the double ear variety, when I noticed something on this one:
Look at the mint mark. It doubled. See the black on the left of the mint mark? I thought it was a shadow, but it turns out it’s not after looking through a microscope.
Under a microscope:
That’s doubled, no doubt in my opinion. Then again, I am not as experienced as other coin collectors here.
Here’s the question. Is this double struck, or a double die, or neither?
Nothing else is doubled, just the mint mark,
Any help will be appreciated,
Jared
