Need help found what I think is a 1965 silver dime. I have read how rare it is and about the weight being 2.50grams. before I go nuts and try to get it weighed do they tarnish and look like a penny? Can or should I clean it?

Why not the "drop'' test it so much more fun that way lol. diggin is right dont do that cause all it would take if it is silver for it to land on its edgeand bend the reed a slight bit and there goes your value. Its possible it could be silver chances are slim but possible, I agree with everyone it looks clad from the pics but what does the reed look like if it has been handled in pocket change for any amount of time you should be able to clearly see if the edge has a copper ring or solid silver. Either way keep us informed and welcomeDigginThePast said:DON'T clean it! Don't scare me like that. Get it weighed or do a specific gravity test if you feel its the real deal.
Edit: I would also avoid the "drop" test. Dropping the coin to listen to the sound it makes could result in damage and loss of value. Take the time to properly test it.

I'm scared. Please help.
