my name is jeff and i am a plumber in covington, la. i was running a gas line for a generator three days ago in which i had to dig a trench about 12 inches deep. while i was hooking it into the meter i looked down to pick up a wrench and there was something brass looking sticking up out of a ball of dirt. i picked it up and began breaking the hard dirt away and to my shock it was a ring. i had found remi prudhomme's 1965 bills championship ring. as it turns out remi use to live two houses down from where i was working, but there is no telling how it got where it was. ever since i found it, i have been doing nothing but research and trying to find out just who was remi prudhomme, it's been fun.
i have a few pictures, but the it says the file size is too big to even put one of them on here..
thanks,
jeff

Incredible find...shouldn't be too hard to track him down! I would love to see a picture...can you not resize the pics? Thanks for posting and welcome aboard!

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

yes, thats part of what is happening around here, remi prudhomme died long ago, and they are looking into finding his children. there has been so much info thrown at me that it is hard to remember it all, but one factis that he had 2 championship rings, one with buffalo and one with kansas city and he died with neither, the kansas city ring was missing as well.

Hey Jeff,

I see you found the forum and made the post. This is a good place for great people and resources. Everyone here has been very kind and professional. Should be able to make some headway here. Good luck!

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

That sounds like a great find.........what I would do is try to contact the owner which is in-scripted on the ring ....most like inside! Being a long time Buffalo Bills fan , that would be a big deal and I'm sure a little TV would come with it!

Too cool Jeff.......got to admit that would be a hard one for me to return. The family should be really happy to have that one returned to them. I sure it has a lot of history with it. HH......gregd573

Certainly a once in a lifetime find!!! I'm sure you'll be able to locate children or relatives who would hopefully treasure the ring if returned

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

If you have a name and somewhat of a location I may be able to have a real estate hook-up of mine look them up for you and get an address. If you can find one of the children's names and at least a county where they live or something?? just a thought.

Um.....they already know whose ring it is and he is no longer of this world. The earlier posts explain this ::)

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

Great find. Here's what to do next, and by the way, he could have been working helping a neighbor when he lost it. I work in PR and you should contact the Buffalo News, the city's major paper. They will write a story and track down any family. Here are the emails of several reporters and editors in the sports dept. Copy all on your email. They get lots of email, so put "Bills Championship Ring Found" in the subject box to get their attention. Don't worry if one or two of the emails bounces back. It's possible that will happen, but the others will go through. The database with this information is not always fully up to date if someone moves to another job. Explain as briefly as possible how you found it and that you want to help return the ring. Keep us updated. (I know it was found in Louisiana and he was from there, but this will be a fascinating story to the Buffalo area and people there may know about the whereabouts of his family.)

??? What are the odds of the same guy finding another AFL Ring? Check out "Here is an interesting Lost & Found Tidbit" under Lost & Found!
Were there 2 Rings?

I must be missing something - isn't that the same ring? Why would you think there are two rings?

??? Cub: Maybe, I'm missing something, but it does say John Roberts AFL Champ. Ring! Admittingly, I'm not a Football Fan tho!

Looks to me like that site was where he was doing his research? The name there is also Jeff and dated 10/10. Just my observation.

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

Hi Everyone,

I originally found this poster on Dallashistory.org, a place where I do research. I contacted Jeff and recommended he inquire with the great people and resources of this site for help with the lost ring. Before he did, I posted a line in 'Lost and Found' because I thought it was a cool story. Hope this clears some things up! Keep on digging!

Re: 1965 Buffal Bills AFL Championship Ring

hey everyone, we found the family in baton rouge. they are very interested in recieving the ring back. the news will be covering the story and the local paper. the son of remi prudhomme has remi's super bowl 4 ring and now he will have this one as well. he has 2 little boys which he will be able to pass the rings on to, so it will all end well. you guys keep on having fun doing what you guys do and i hope yall found it to be interesting. thanks , jeff
