1963 clad dime???

I have heard rumors of 1965 silvers, they were supposedly struck on the wrong(silver) planchettes, but never the other way around, I wouldn't think it would be possible. I have to agree with PBK on this one, even tho' he isn't too good at IDing stuff usually..........

1964 silver coins were actually struck well into 1965, so I doubt there were any clad planchets already made in 1963. That aside, never say never I guess.

i have a error book, in there it said that there were some errors that a coins was struck on a foregin coiin planchet. it it may have been a clad planchet from another country that was struck in 1963

I would agree that most likely, it is a weak 1968 or an altered 1968.

However it is not beyond the realm of possibility that it is a clad 1963.

I worked on a rolling mill in the summer of 1963,we rolled several different experimental alloys for the mint.I don't remember if any of those alloys were clad though.Supposedly all the experimental coins are destroyed but who knows?

!963 dies could have been used in trial runs.

The coin would certainly be worth checking closely.
