Nice find! I recently found a 1950 $10 bill at a bank two weeks ago. This Tuesday however one of the nicest bank tellers I have ever met is bringing me a 1935 silver certificate and some other really good stuff.I pulled this oldie out of my Dad's wallet today! My previous record was a 1988 $1 which wasn't very impressive. It was a big surprise to beat my record for oldest bill by 25 years.View attachment 1120147View attachment 1120148
On top of being old-ish, its a "Barr" note. I don't remember the exact reason, but his signature is rare-ish because he didn't stay Secretary of the Treasury throughout the full run of the note. Or something along those lines. I'm sure a quick google search can explain it better than I.
Its not worth that much (~$2-$4 IMO), but I'd call it a keeper.
As a kid I always checked $1 bills for "Barr dollars." I found a nearly uncirculated one a couple of years ago, which was the first I'd seen probably since the early 1980's. I've seen them sell on ebay for $2-$4 depending upon condition.
